Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

This was by far, the largest zoo that I've ever been to. It is laid out perfectly and is easy to get through. I would also recommend taking the Bus tour first thing when you get there, it will give you a good layout of the zoo before you go walking around. I definitely recommend the San Diego Zoo for... We spent a very enjoyable day here visiting the animals, riding the skyfari aerial tramway and guided bus tour. There were plenty of eateries and spotlessly clean restrooms.

Worth a trip, great for children. From my experience the zoo offers much the same as other zoo's visited. Animals are well looked after and there is a fair bit to see but probably better visiting on a quieter day than we did (spring break). Missed the sky train due to the queues but the exhibits and 4D experience were... More

The best zoo. It will be hard for you to enjoy your local zoo after seeing how cool this one is. It can be hard for people with bad knees to navigate as there are many changing elevations here. This was a problem for some in our group.

I used to be a big zoo-fan but when i got older, i thought i also got wiser and decided animals in cages were unhappy and it is wrong. Well, visit San diego zoo and you will see the opposite! Great enclosures, happy, healthy animals in what i believe is a close-to-real-life habitat for them! Absolutely worth the money as... More

As a ten year member of the SD Zoo and Wild Animal Park, I can't say enough about it. I am lucky to live here, so we can go as often as we want to, and when you are a member you don't have to wait in the long lines at the admissions desk. Just show your card and in... More

I drove from Los Angeles to go to this zoo and it was definitely worth the trip. It is a very large zoo. All day event.

Rode the bus tour first to get an overview and make a plan for the day. Don't miss the cheetahs with their dog pals!

This is a must do in San Diego, especially with kids. It is a very nice zoo. But hilly and lots of walking. We enjoy walking, but others should be aware. We only spent half a day at the zoo, as we frequently visit zoos around the country and have seen most of the animal species before. We arrived at... More

If you're trying to torture your young children as well as your own legs and lungs, then by all means walk the park Mr Overachiever. The rest of us are taking the tour bus and hitting the entire park in a tidy half hour, with still enough left in the old energy tank to go stand in the Panda line... More
