Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

Animals in Action is worth the time and investment. It was really great seeing some of the animals up close and personal! There were unfortunately quite a large number of animal no shows in the exhibits throughout the park. This was disappointing.

This zoo is highly recommended. There is free parking in front of the zoo. We must have walked at least 3 miles and found the park to be hilly. Should have taken the 70 minute Discovery Cart tour (golf cart for 9 people). We did...More

We took the bus tour first to get an overview and it was worth it. All of the animal enclosures were exceptionally clean and the animals are well looked after.

We live in Maryland, but have membership in the San Diego Zoo. Since we have grandchildren in San Diego, we visit about 4 times a year, and have to go the zoo at least twice during each visit. There is so much to see, and...More

What a neat place. Lots of walking to see everything. I have been there several times. A few times as a youngster and now I'm 71.

A very old ordinary zoo with a lot of up and down walking hills. Because of the hills, a lot of empty spaces. Animal enclosures are very small by todays standards. Worth going to once but we are not going back. Much better things to...More

Yes but it’s worth starting with the bus tour to get a feel for where everything is and have a look around.

Not that I am aware. There is a photo type pass . I believe around $38.00, however, we only saw 2 photo opportunities.
