A large market conveniently divided into sections: farmers market, arts and crafts, vintage etc. Vendors prices vary tremendously so there is something for everyone at many different price points. Products are generally interesting a nice quality. The summer market has a lot of outdoor areas making it fun to walk around on a nice day. Parking is tight although there... More

Impressive and fun with great variety for all lovers of the arts and artisans. Probably only open in good weather. A bit tricky to get to by public transit, but lots of parking that comes with a voucher for purchases. Nice outing for enlightened people.

We stayed on Harrison and wondered why it was busy and we realized it was the First Friday of the month. What a pleasant surprise for the galleries to open to the public. Don't miss this event.

Exploring the studios is a treasure on a hot Sunday afternoon. Purchased lunch from a food truck at the SoWa Open Market (Every Sunday May 1 - October 30) and made my way through the open studios. Feel free to chat with established professional artists and an up-and-coming photographer. Such a fantastic variety of work from jewelry, scultpures and photography... More

On the first Friday evening of the month. SOWA opens up its galleries for free to the public; fun thing to do after work to start the weekend; lots of nice restaurants in the neighborhood.

As an artist, and SoWa Guild member, who maintains a Studio at 450 Harrison Ave, I feel honored and grateful to work among such a talented and ecclectic group of creatives! Our neighborhood and building has become the go to destination for art enthusiasts and collectors alike! In a recent article, Boston Globe art critic Cate McQuaid, Said, "Gallery central... More

This is a great Sunday activity, and it sounds as if attendees booths and items sold changes from week to week. There are three sections to the SOWA. Arts/Crafts, Farmers Market and Food Trucks. Parking is easy enough to find along the side streets, and traffic into the city was manageable since it's the weekend. I liked the craft vendors... More

We went to the SoWa and were disappointed. The vendors area wasn't very large and there were no real antiques to speak of. We walked to Chinatown after spending 30 minutes here. It is not worth the time.

We really went for the food trucks but it was 2pm and every line was insane - people were willing to wait for the favorite meal but we were starving and ended up in the shortest line so nothing special. I will try again but go much earlier. The market was bigger then I expected but no one was serving... More

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
