This tony neighborhood--one of the two most expensive residential areas in Boston--started as a bay. The bay was filled in during the 19th century to create the area now known by the name Back Bay. The area is known for its Victorian brownstones, the Boston Public Library, shopping, office high rises and upscale hotels.

Homes from the 1800s. Shopping, restaurants and tree lined streets. If you are looking for shopping, walk down Newbury St. If you want a peaceful place to sit or walk along tree lined paths, take Commonwealth Ave. Other streets that have old home to see...More

Great area. Always trying to get a hotel here. Very convenient for shopping, restaurants and bars. Close enough to walk to the Charles River and even Fenway Park

I've worked in Boston/Copley for a number of years. I worked in Copley Place and that gave me a chance to see the churches, library, malls, and restaurants in and around Copley. Boston is a very walk-able city.

Nice place to stay in. Walking areas include restaurants, library, theaters, etc. Close to the T station and Amtrack. Can get to the north end with a fairly cheap Uber ride. Lots of nice hotels.

The neighborhood is one of a kind. Restaurants and shopping are here (Boylston St, Newbury St, etc) and yet Marlborough and the surrounding streets are picture perfect. Take a walk or run along the Charles River and even cross the bridge into Cambridge from here!

Back Bay made for a beautiful place to stay while visiting Boston for a conference. Tons of shops, bars, and restaurants in walking distance. Downtown, Fenway Park, and the Conference Centre are also easily walkable! Close proximity to running and biking trails along the water.

We really like the Back Bay area. We stay at the Boston Marriott Copley place, shop Newberry street and browse Copley square and Boylston street. Love all the choice of restaurants to eat.

Hi Sandra, Any and all info regarding where we can watch our cousin in the marathon this weekend would be a tremendous help. I hear there's bleachers somewhere for spectators, and fun things for the crowd to get involved. Any clue about any of this, or where exactly it is in Back Bay? Thanks!

I'd like to go to Trinity Church for a service Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Is this even possible for an out-of-towner?
