The National Park Service & the US Coast Guard provide the tour for this wonderful 3 1/2 hours trip. The light keeper, Dr. Sally Snowman, dresses in period clothes to distinguish herself from the visitors and NP Rangers and she is very funny and full of information. The tour begins at the Boston Harbor Islands Welcome Center on the Rose... More

This is a treasure of the Boston Harbor Islands. Family friendly and very informative. A UMass boat takes you out to the Boston Light with narration by park rangers. You are greeted by the Keeper of the Light and volunteers who answer any questions. Climb the stairs to the top and check out the lens. Very cool. There is even... More

Plan on a 45 min boat ride - take lots of water and a snack or lunch. The park service and auxiliary coast guard staff are friendly and informative- 2016 is the 300th year of the lights operation. Sunscreen a must. The light house climb is restricted - top portion requires climbing two short ladders. Oh and don't touch the... More

Boston Light is well worth a visit for any lighthouse enthusiast. Located on Little Brewster Island about 45 minutes out in the harbor, Boston Light is the oldest light station in the USA, in service since 1716. I was able to climb the lighthouse, with beautiful views of the harbor and nearby Graves Light. On the way out if you're... More

For the ride to the lighthouse we had an interpretive narration which was very interesting. The lighthouse island itself has a few interesting points but the high point is obviously the opportunity to climb the lighthouse itself. If you like light house or are just looking for something different this is well worth the visit.

Perfect trio out to see one of our national treasures. The staff on the boat and also on the island were so well organized and everything went smoothly and we learned a lot! Of course it didn't hurt that we had the perfect day!

This is not a cheap excursion ($35ish a head as I recall), but it is completely worth the cost and the length of the ferry ride to get out there. The island is rich with history and has excellent tour guides to explain everything. Being able to climb the lighthouse and get up close with the enormous Fresnel lens (dating... More

We really enjoyed this tour! They only do these on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so you need to plan accordingly. The boat ride out was really nice. Not too fast, not too slow. Gives you the chance to get some really nice views of the Harbor and also the city from the water. We took the tour on a Sunday... More

You have to love lighthouses and boat rides or this is not the attraction for you. This lighthouse location has history. The first lighthouse to be built on the site dates back to 1716, and was the first lighthouse to be built in what is now the United States. The current lighthouse dates from 1783, is the second oldest working... More

On Friday afternoon I boarded a boat to go visit Boston Light. Though I had been by it hundreds of times, I had never visited Little Brewster Island. This site offers colonial history, beautiful scenery, one of a kind views, and some wonderfully committed people. The lighthouse offered full access, meaning, after climbing 76 steps and two ladders (with the... More
