The first time I saw it I thought it was odd to see it in downtown Boston, where the focus is on Revolutionary war history, etc. But it is quite fitting right there. Highly recommend seeing it an night if possible. Start at the beginning and read each marker. It is SO moving in it's simplicity. I have visited it... More

It's a quite interesting place to spend a few minutes and to think about your life and read the many messages written there!

This is really well done! It is heart rendering and yet humbling to think that people had to undergo the that kind of treatment. What a fantastic display! The towers and their writings are very touching. Everything is kept clean and it's a great place to visit.

Very well done, informative and emotional memorial. The mist in each box really adds to the depth of the memorial.

Wow, very well done. All those numbers, so very sad. Love the rocks, the words etched in the granite, the walkway. So glad I was able to see this memorial.

"When your only possession in life is a fruit and instead of eating it, you wait to give it to someone you like.." not exact words but something on those liines. Each of the glass tower has such touching stories from the Jews that show both the darkest side of human spirit as well as the side of still seeking... More

This memorial doesn't look like one at all and it draws you in - it looks like an architectural exhibit or an art installation. Once closer a story unfolds and it is a somber reminder while on vacation of how fortunate we all are and how wicked times can be.

Personally, am always moved by the war deaths.. it was a nice place to pause and feed heavy at heart for the foolishness of human...killing of millions... but, as a tourist, this is, my dear memorial, is not a place to make a must-do.. if you are around, go there for a quick look... it has a few modern glass... The Holocaust Memorial is a moving and heartfelt tribute to those lost in the Holocaust. It demonstrates the magnitude of loss in an encouraging way. A 5-10 minute stop to reflect as you walk the Freedom Trail.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
