Two totally different areas. South Boston sometimes call the seaport district too does not have the restaurants (Although we did find 1 really great one) that other areas do. Also, it's not real touristy (things to look st). South end is different. Loads of restaurants, great museums and a lot of really good walking to check it out areas. Personally,... More

If you're exploring the real South End, then you know it's not the South Shore (some people here are confusing the two). The South End is a place of neighborhoods. No beaches here but there the beautiful Victorians. Better than it used to be & not as gentrified, thankfully, as some places. But still a place to you know where... More

My husband and I recently moved to Boston (to the North End) and every weekend, we choose a different neighborhood to explore. Last week we walked all along the Seaport District. Checking out the Moakley Courthouse was pretty cool and potentially, it would be a great walk along the harbor - there are some great restaurants and shops there -... More

Came here for dinner, had done drinks then hung out at the beach for a bit. Nicely maintained, little on the chilly side but it's a beach in Boston you can't complain to much. Cool neighborhood reminds me of home with the neighborhood bars that are part of the buildings.

I'm a Boston native. While living in the city has it perks sometimes I enjoy my alone time. South Boston is a great place to enjoy that time, because it's near the water, plenty of restaurants and plenty of relaxation.

South Boston use to be a fairly average neighborhood, although it was great if you just like a homey, middle-class, friendly neighborhood. Over the past 20 years it has become more up and coming, which means the prices are up. But, happily, the people are still local and it is still homey.

"Southie" has its good points and down sides. A regular working class neighborhood, it is lined with narrow streets, the traditional rows of triple decker houses, some tough housing projects, and a few lovely streets ( think East Broadway) of pretty, historic homes. It's general lack of green space is made up for by its lovely coastline and beaches stretching... More
