The folk art center is so convenient that there is no reason a visitor to Asheville should not seek it out for the best range of skilled crafts that reflect the mountain heritage of so many local artists. The upstairs area is remarkable not only for a historical perspective but often offers a showcase of work from such places as... More

We come here every time we are in Asheville and we find new and different things here every time. Beautiful displays of fine and primitive craft fill the sales hall. The upstairs gallery n array of museum quality antique crafts.

Tourists might profit from visiting the Southern Highland Craft Guild Folk Art Museum whose offerings can be much more sophisticated than the name would seem to imply. For those of us who go to most of the craft fairs in western NC, you may not see too many items that you have not seen examples of elsewhere. Those new to... More

We stopped to see what the center was and it is nice place to see local crafts and art. Some displays are more interesting than others but really didn't trip my trigger. My wife did so all is well on the home front.

As a lover of hand made quilts, the displays of quilts of many different sizes and designs appealed to me. I saw many designs that were very different from any that I have seen before. Many featured the typical scenery, plant, and animal life common to the mountains of North Carolina. I was also attracted to the wooden carvings. My... More

The bottom floor is filled with crafts of all types for sale. Pottery, jewelry, wood turnings , glass, and much more. It was really interesting to see all the different medias used and the displays were well done. This is not your church bizarre type of crafts. These were impressive art creations by many different artists. They were also not church... More

Wonderful display of art and crafts from many artists! Prices seemed to be in line with the products, when you consider they are handmade, and a lot of time & effort go into them.

This is an amazing find on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The artists showing their work here are selected by the Guild members themselves. There is a gigantic selection of beautiful work here. It is hard to leave without something from this ongoing show of talent.
