If Montford still had a mayor, which it did briefly in the late 1800s, Sharon would be it. She is so knowledgeable about the houses, history, and people of Montford. Her walking tour started at her beautifully restored home on Montford Avenue. First she oriented us to the geography of the area with a large map that showed us how... More

You will have a wonderful time learning the truth and nothing abut the truth about Asheville's glorious history, neglect and resuretion to the creative, lively, upbeat and spirited city day and night that it now is. John took just the two us on an informative walk all around Asheville starting at the the Vance Memorial. The architecture, history and tips... More

There is nothing like a walking tour to get a real sense of a community. Sharon gave us a wonderful tour; entertaining and educational. A walking tour is a wonderful way to "see" a new place with little time. Bob and Kathy Nicholson Syracuse, NY

Took a 90 minute Downtown Asheville walking tour with Kevin Frasier as our guide. Kevin was very knowledgable about the history and architecture of the city. The tour was made more enjoyable as each participant had an individual audio system, so that even with the noise of the city - busses, people, construction, we could hear Kevin as he walked... More

My 10 year old daughter took this tour with her school group and loved it. She is still pointing out things that she saw for the first time in her own city and we're still talking about local history together.

Sharon's impressive knowledge of the hisory of Asheville added a whole new layer of interest for me about the city. We toured several landmarks I was not aware of and now I will go back to learn more about them. It was evident that Sharon is part and parcel of the fabric of Asheville and she makes her connections work... More

I had two days in Asheville. I looked on this site for a different type of tour. This caught my eye. My guide was Sharon and did she know her stuff! She was happy to answer any question I had and give advise on where to go and what to see on my own after the tour. What was nice... More

We read about History@hand from an AAA list of attractions in Asheville, NC. We called Sharon Fahrer and were able to set up a two hour walking tour of historic Asheville within thirty minutes of our call. We met Sharon at the Obelisk and she proceeded to tell us an enormous amount of history concerning Asheville. Particularly fascinating was the... More
