This is my weekly "exercise" walk. I can do 6 miles, get some elevation in, and have all the benefits of walking in a forest. If desired, there are further hikes, or lesser. The best "green area" Asheville offers.

This area is so beautiful and diverse it is always great to visit. My main interest is the miles of mountain bike trails from relatively easy to fairly challenging and a lot of variety. There are stream crossings and great single track trails through stands of hardwoods, rhododendrons, and pines. My favorite place to ride.

Great hiking and easy bike trails, free parking, close to town and right next to the Parkway. Nice place to bring the family- small beach hardly larger than a public swimming hole, lots of easy short hikes from the beach. BBQs all over, I love this place.

I mountain bike here frequently as I live 30 minutes away. Large trail network with beginner to (a few sections/trails) expert level riding needed. Runners, riders, hikers, equestrians, all share this space. Bikers - YIELD to all other trail users and be nice.

If you like nature, swimming, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, foraying this is the spot to go. They have nice campground and grill out spots as well. Just give it a chance and you will love it

We joined a Meetup group (over the internet ~ www.meetup.com/Asheville-MTB-Meetup-Group/) for a Wednesday night Beginner Mountain Bike Ride of the Lower Rim area. We had our own bikes and camelback hydration packs (so glad we did as I got thirsty). There were more than 15 of us and we split into two smaller groups. This ride took about two hours... More

Trail maps are available on line and at local bike stores. Chose the trail that fits level of fitness and energy, take water, snack and a map.

My wife daughter and I drove there to take a quick drive through the park to see if we would like it and what sites looked best, before making reservations. After driving all the way there we were turned away. We were told that they were too busy to let people drive through?!? I explained that we drove some distance... More
