About
The Wedge at Foundation is located a mile upstream from Wedge Studios. This historic building was constructed by Hans Rees & Sons in 1898 to house what would become the largest leather tannery in the country. Today the Foundation buildings are very much a part of the River Arts community. The Wedge Brewery added its second brewery/tasting room in 2017 to expand with the River Arts neighborhood.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a great place to cool off while exploring the River Arts District. The staff was so friendly and helped us pick great beers based on our preferences. The outside seating area is great for families!

We took in the River Arts District for several hours on a hot summer day. A cold beer at Wedge was a perfect respite. I tried the cucumber Kolsch - magnificent! A big nose of cucumber with subtle taste of cucumber in a light crisp Kolsch. Never had anything like it. My husband tried their "Cold Beer" brew and was delighted as well. The beer tender was knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere was open accessible and comfortable. Outside family friendly seating as well. A must stop for travelers!

The beers were great, bartender was awesome and recommended calling in our bbq next door to save standing in their crazy long line. That was the best, as we cut through the building picked up the food and sat in their place with a cold beer for lunch.

Loved the venue as soon as we pulled in with all the creative graffiti and have to say the beer was just as creative. We were also craving a grilled cheese sandwich and have to say the assortment of grilled cheese options made it tough to pick. Choose the Asian cole slaw instead of chips and adding a Tootsie Roll to each sandwich order was strange but good.

Great beers and atmosphere. A big place so we were not crowded. The graffiti is really awesome - we spent quite a bit of time looking at it all. Slightly off the beaten path but very close to downtown.

This is definitely one of my regular drinking spots and on my list of top Asheville breweries.

Beers: I have never had one there I do not like. My favorite is the Caroliner Weisse, especially with the Cheerwine add-in. Iron Rail IPA is the go-to for most people.

Beertenders: The beertenders are always super-friendly, amusing, and willing to offer selection suggestions.

Food: A rotating selection of trucks (one truck per day) are there daily. Deliciousness!

Building/parking: They have parking, but it can be tight at busy times. The indoor and outdoor spaces both accommodate groups and are aesthetically-pleasing. There is overflow parking in surrounding lots. The bathrooms are plentiful and always clean. The building sits near the train tracks so if you are sitting outside, it is fun to watch the trains going by. They have free WiFi.

Events: The Wedge Foundation (note: the location on Foundy St) hosts group events. My work has had our holiday party there in the past and their Cloud Room is gorgeous, has a separate bar, and affordable. Definitely consider hosting your next group event there. Contact info for them is on their website. :)

Tip: Great photo opps exist in surrounding buildings which are covered in grafitti-esque art. Take a moment to explore that before/after.

Wedge Brewing Company’s second location is a cool place to set up an second brewery. Wedge has some great tasting beers in a laid back location. It was my fist visit and I would be happy to return.

We enjoyed our evening outside with the live music and good beer. We loved the food truck and the Brussel sprouts were AMAZING!

Stopped in during a weekend visit to Asheville. We really enjoyed the relaxed vibe of this place. While I respect that we were in "Beer City USA" and had many similar options, the beers we enjoyed were really good. All who we encountered there - employees and patrons alike - were very friendly and unpretentious. Would go visit again in a heart beat.

We recently visited this brew pub with local friends of ours. We stopped here and enjoyed some of their recent beers. We especially liked the IPAs. I liked the one made with barley wine - i think it was called 3rd rail IPA.
There is plenty of seating in and outside and it is right next to 12 Bones, a BBQ place.

Give it a try. Oops- almost forgot --since it was Valentine's day they had a blue grass string quartet there. Very entertaining.
