We were staying nearby on an outcrop of the Terlingua Ranch and swung by on two occasions to explore. The first was to see the ghost town remnants (see my review) and also to take in the Terlingua Cemetery. This historical but still used sacred...More

Terlingua is remote, but has everything you need when visiting Big Bend. The people are extremely friendly and helpful. There are good places to eat, a small grocery store and a gas station. There are also tour activities for The Rio Grande.

Terlingua, an eclectic, off the beaten path kind of place that should be visited during your vacation. There's not much to do here, except eat a fantastic meal at the old theater, turned into the Starlight Restaurant and sit on their long bench out front...More

Such a small interesting place and Terlingua Ghost Town was even better.. A large shop there with great purchases to be made. Glenda's little café was very welcoming too. Worth a visit.

I have been to Terlingua a dozen times in recent years, and I enjoy being there each time. Why? Because the community - and it is barely that - is as much counter-culture, New Age-oriented,, "live off the grid" as one can find anywhere east...More

Terlingua is awesome! So much to see in a tiny little ghost town. The cemetery is fascinating and gut-wrenching, the dilapidated houses are cool to walk through, and you should absolutely have a beer with the locals on the porch of the Terlingua Trading Company....More

I imagine there are tourists who go to Big Bend National Park and stay in Terlingua because it is one of the two nearest "towns." In that sentence, you should understand "nearest" in relative terms; everything is extremely far in this portion of the country;...More

If you're in this area, definitely stop and walk around Terlingua. Presumably named after the 3 languages that were in the area, back in the day of the Chisos Mine. There are several attractions, restaurants, Starlight Lounge and even a motel. The area seems to...More
