The towering red rock formations go on and on. We would speculate whether this one was an Indian palace or that one was a Crusader Castle. The drive is next to the Colorado river, and on the river sides there are all kinds of camp grounds and boat launches. There is a gorgeous bike path. All in all, this is... More

We were trying to get to the Needles Visitor Center for Canyonlands, but turned into this area. The views and scenery are absolutely spectacular and on par with Canyonlands itself. Nice picnic areas near various camping locations to enjoy a nice (packed in) lunch.

Arrived in town too early to check-in to hotel, so took a drive up the river, happy I did. Very scenic two lane road. Also saw many side excursions if I had the time.

I chose the Sound and Light Show with Dinner tour. A great dinner was served in the dining hall before the riverboat. Good BBQ meats with generous helpings and your choice of foods. This was an excellent trip. The riverboat sound and light show was beautiful and informative. Learned a lot of history. Lee was a great host and presented... More

You won't want to miss the sights as you meander along the river. Stop and examine the photo ops and look at the campsite locations.

Because we were during the winter, we were not able to take advantage of many recreational activities. There are several dry campgrounds and a couple with restrooms. It appeared that there were easy access to the river and trail heads in the area.

We heard about this area from people that were staying at the same Inn we were at. As we'd come to Moab from I-70 on more than one occasion we welcomed the chance to see more of the area. If you are leaving Moab, Highway 128 starts very near the Colorado River. The highway winds through rugged, beautiful terrain following... More

This area is gorgeous! There is something for everyone here-hiking trails, biking trails, Jeep trails, not to mention river trips and lovely campgrounds.
