Top ways to experience Transamerica Redwood Park and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
How to get there
  • Embarcadero • 7 min walk
  • Embarcadero • 8 min walk

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Actually visited in July 2021 but just remembered now to post a review.

Small park hidden behind the iconic Transamerica Bank building. Nice place to take a 5 minute break while walking around downtown. We went early in the morning so there was practically no one (except for a homeless man that was just leaving the area. Very well kept.

As a Midwesterner, I'm not familiar with redwood trees. I've never been to the forests on California's north coast, so I was glad to be able to see smaller versions of the famous trees right in downtown San Francisco.

This park is a public plaza beside the Transamerica Pyramid skyscraper. It's open during daylight hours and completely free to visit. I found it a very pleasant little park, and it was fun to see the famous trees.

This small private park behind the Transamerica building is a very beutiful well kept and well design. A great place for people to have a space to rest while in the jungle of tall buildings. Stop by for a few photos if you are in the area. Not far from Chinatown and not far from the Embarcadero area.

Don't need to make a special trip, but if you are in the Financial District or near the Ferry Terminal, it's a nice place to sit and relax. Basically a beautifully landscaped, shaded, small, Redwood garden, with nice small water feature and sculpture.

It is a delight to find this little pocket park in the middle of the Financial District. Great trees and it's next to the iconic pyramid building. Rest here.

In the heart of the financial district, directly adjacent the building that gives it its name lies the Transamerica Redwood Park. A small place for a pause in the city and yes, it does contain redwood trees as well as some interesting bronze sculptures such as ”puddle jumpers” and a frog pond.

We went to the park after we heard about music performance going on in this park.It is a small park , planted with Redwoods(they are quite big) wood sculptures and a nice pond .There was a small band playing African music on the small stage, in the middle of the park.

I'm fortunate in being able walk through this park twice as part of my daily commute.

Took awhile for me to notice the Redwoods in the city! Today I enjoyed the park just looking up at the trees.

Muir Woods is not too far away and fun to hike but if you're only visiting for a short time or want to connect with the trees, this is a great place to go to nature in the city.

A nice place to rest and relax after a long walk around downtown SFO. This lovely park sits on the west side of transamerica pyramid and full of redwood trees. I can call this place a mini-forest in an urban setting that most cities in the US should have one. After all the high rise buildings that surrounds this place you still have an area of solitude.
