Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

Visiting from the UK and taken to a small car park (free parking) with little promise only to find a massive beach with the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Toilets weren’t great especially for the kids. The waves crash in and swimming isn’t...More

Very nice beach in San Francisco, but quite seldom used as ordinary beach due to windy conditions and strong waves. Maybe not perfect for families to visit to take a swim etc. Fantastic views, perfect for getting another angle of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Baker Beach is a longish stretch of beach where you can expect a nice view of the Golden Gate bridge and a nice sunset when it's not hazy. It's a busy beach and you can see all kinds of people working out, doing yoga, dancing,...More

This beach frequently is very windy and foggy. On the rare perfect weather days it is completely packed. The ocean is not swimmable here as the waves break short and hard. Children and dogs should not be left unattended. Also if you go too far...More

This is San Francisco's nicest beach to visit and while you are at it, take pictures. The views are breathtaking but please note as you walk closer towards the GG Bridge along the beach, you may see many people sunbathing au naturale.

This is a great spot to take the iconic photos of the Golden Gate Bridge. Be aware that part of the beach is clothing optional, but there are plenty of clothed people around too!

I am so glad I found this beach on TripAdvisor before I left!! It is the best thing we did while visiting SF! It is an easy drive to get there with ample FREE parking and the beach is a lot longer/bigger than I thought...More

This is arguably one of the best places to take your iconic Golden Gate Bridge Photo. Quite easy to access, escape the marina area crowds here.

This beach is a must see when visiting San Francisco! The sound of the waves and the view of the golden gate bridge are definitely worth while! Just remember to bring a blanket as it can be quite windy and chilly.

While the water will be cold, and you may not swim, this is one of the most scenic beaches in all of California. COme for a picnic, bring good food and drink for there is nothing for sale around here. Parking is tough so bike...More

I do not know 100%, but most Cities have ordinances which do NOT allow overnight camping unless in designated campgrounds, with facilities, which this is not- It's just a parking lot to access the trails

Could be on the cooler side, but it is not unusual to get warm, sunny weather well into the fall (TIP the fall is the best weather season in SF). That said, it could also rain. I have been on Baker Beach in sun, fog, and... More
