Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

Very average beach, middle of summer and it was deserted as it is not a nice beach. For beaches head south to Santa Cruz, Pebble Beach, Carmel.

Park at the confluence of 25th Ave and Seacliff, then hike down to the Beach. A mildly difficult return, but what a day! Crashing waves and a spectacular sight of the world's most famous bridge. To avoid the hike, one may drive to the parking...More

In the summer months the city experiences a lot of fog. It was kind of cool to see the bridge emerging from the fog. Overall, it offers a great view of the bridge! There is also a sand ladder in the middle of the beach...More

This used to be the private beach for those living in the Presidio and now it's open to the public. The views are amazing and it wasn't crowded when we visited on a Friday in June. Lovely place.

It's worth coming to Baker simply for the view of the Golden Gate, but there's also great views of Land's End and more the San Francisco Coastline. The beach can get quite chilly, but it's a perfect place for a walk or a lazy day....More

This is a quiet beach that not a lot of people seem to know about. Perfect view of the Golden Gate Bridge and also a great place to fly a kite! The waves can be larger or calmer depending on the wind and weather so...More

There is a unspoken rule for Baker Beach. Closer to the parkign lot is the family friendly section. Complete with dogs and frisbees and kids frolicking in the waves. Going closer to the Golden Gate Bridge area is the clothing optional area. Which is nice...More

Coming from Alabama, it is definitely cold out there on the beach, but a must stop if in SF! The views of the bridge are incredible and we saw tons of humpback whales out in the bay!

Nice long beach with cool rocks to climb to get to other beaches and scenic views of Golden Gate Bridge. But watch out if you're with young kids--it's also a nude beach mostly for men --the day we went was cloudy and about 58 degrees...More

Their is rocks close to the surface of the water. To keep ships away this was built. This is what I had been told by a couple of people who lived near the south end of Baker Beach
