We bought the SF city Pass and it included entry to this. I would choose to go to the aquarium portion of the CA academy of science or the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. It was worth visiting as part of a package though. The location is very convenient on Pier 39 since we were right there. It was extremely crowded when... More

We spent a little while visiting the Aquarium by the Bay. It is definitely NOT your Monterrey Bay Aquarium. But if you have little children they might enjoy the visit. And we supported the Bay conservation, I guess, by our visit.

This small aquarium really packs a punch in a small place , we had a wonderful time and we walked through the tunnels twice because the kids enjoyed it so much , if you are a member of a reciprocal zoo you can get in for half price , check your zoo to see who they are members with ,... More

What a nice little aquarium right on the pier. Very cool seven gill sharks and rays. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Otters were cute.

Cute, small aquarium. It took us just over two hours to walk through and we were going pretty slowly. The highlight is the tunnel, we happened along while divers were feeding rays and anemones. Something to do for a bit if the cost isn't an issue.

This is a must see aquarium. There is an aquarium tunnel that you walk through, a see lion observatory, and a 'petting station' for many kinds of sea life. We were able to touch sea cucumbers, star fish, a small shark, and some sting rays, among other things. So cool!!

We bought City Passes which included the aquarium. It would have been expensive for the short time you would stay there. There are jellies, a touch pool, a walk through glass tunnel that was a bit murky and other interesting animals. Our highlight was seeing the otters being fed. They could do more tricks than our dog! Every staff member... More

We come from Vancouver, BC, and there we have an aquarium with endless sea life - including whales, dolphin shows, 4-D shows, endless fish of all sizes, etc. Here in San Fran, the only neat things we saw were the large shark tube tank (where it feels like you're walking under water watching all the sharks swim by & over... The aquarium is a small privately funded aquarium with rather limited exhibits. We visited the aquarium as it was included in the CityPass package which we had purchased. There are 2 floors of exhibit and we went through them in about 20 minutes. I would suggest to give it a miss especially if you are buying tickets separately.
