On a non-foggy day-its spectacular; with fog its pretty good too!

I never get tired of driving across the Golden Gate Bridge ( many people walk it but I am not that ambitious). In Sunlight it is startlingly sculptural- and in fog, somewhat mystical. The rest of the drive is beautiful too- Marin is a special place and it is worth stopping in each town even though they are marred by... More

If you have a car or rent one to avoid busses - this is a great way (pun intended) to get to know the City. Locals refer to San Francisco as "the City". San Fran is OK; Frisco is not OK (it's complicated as it is OK under certain circumstances but that goes beyond SF Tourist 101).

This is a very pleasant drive with some astonishing views. It is great to do if you a new resident or just want to show the town to visitors. You see the bay, the ocean and some of the city's highlights from the comfort of your car. And best of all, it's free.

The 49-mile drive gives you all of San Francisco has to offer in a couple of hours of a drive. Take stop and admire the views and atmosphere as often as you like, or can find a parking place. Convenient on shorter trips to SF if you want to see it all.

I was on my way up to Avenue of the Giants to see the massive red woods just south of Eureka and I know it's a long drive so I decided to make part of the trip with the time I had and head out the Presidio over the Golden Gate Bridge to start my 3+ hours drive. I really... More

I would recommend driving it instead of walking it because it really is 49 miles. Lots to see along the way.

Take your picnic basket and drive the the 49 Mile Scenic Drive. It is beautiful on a clear day and places to stop along the way. Views are incredible and you get a feel for the area.

Each location is unique, and show you the diversity to San Francisco. I recommend doing this drive with a car and river hired so you can stop an get out to explore the sights as well.

Enjoyed seeing the sights by car on 49 Mile Drive. Great vistas, and a few places to pull off the road to take pictures/selfies and otherwise enjoy the fresh air.
