My wife and I and our son are visiting San Francisco later this year. We contacted Linda Lee to ask her if she take do a private tour for us. Unfortunately she is away on the day we required. However she did not just say sorry can't do it, she very kindly sent us suggestions for a self guided tour,... More

Linda Lee brought to our family tour energy, humor, and a highly personal perspective. She knew our names, welcomed us to her neighborhood, and shared stories of Chinatown's influence on San Francisco's history and future. The experience was exactly what I hoped. It was a cultural tour, not a food tour, though we did stop by Golden Gate Fortune Cookie... More

Dear Reviewer: Thank you so much for your positive review of your tour. The tour is a historical and cultural tour, and not a food tour, as we have a food tour that departs on Saturdays at 2pm. On that tour, we stop off at 10 different locations just to eat! However, who can visit the fortune cookie factory without... More

Linda Lee showed my husband and me San Francisco's Chinatown from a knowledgeable, funny, story-telling perspective. She was born in Chinatown and grew up there. She has been perfecting her tour for 30 years! Our group was small---3, and what fun we had! This was the best of our visit to San Francisco! The tour ended with a delicious dim... More

Party of four with two small kids (7 and 9 yrs) went on the walking tour of Chinatown. Linda is an excellent guide and she explained the living conditions, history and even took us into one of the temples. The kids were amazed and surprisingly attentive, but then again, she is is an excellent engaging guide. We opted to have... More

Dear safc1977: Your note was very flattering, but it is I who should thank you about reminding me how many important inventions came from Scotland, your country. We are familiar with the telephone, penicillin, and insulin, but what about Sherlock Holmes, Peter Pan, and James Bond? And everyday, I use my refrigerator, my microwave, and my flush toilet. San Francisco can be overwhelming, so you have to narrow things down when only having 2 1/2 days coming in from the east coast. You do not just walk through which is probably what the majority of... More

The four kids ages 9 - 14 got so much more out of is that we five adults could have imagined. Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
