Been there a number of times on business and it was a cool place in a fly location. Great view of the water.

This was formerly the San Francisco Port of Embarkation for the US Army, but it has been redeveloped for educational and cultural activities. The building are historic and cool. This is a good place for locals, and when I visited on a Sunday, there were a lot of food vendors set up in the parking lot. However, unless one is... More

I have lived near San Francisco my entire life, and I have never known about Fort Mason. It is a beautiful property, and if you ever have an opportunity to either attend or host an event at the Residence, you are in for a treat. The General's Residence is a Historical Site, a lovely Mansion that sits directly across from... More

This is the place to eat! This place is fun and you will be overwhelmed by the different authentic cuisines here. My favorite truck was the gyro stop simply because i love me some greek food!

Walk towards Fort Mason from Aquatic Park. When you reached the "summit", you will see a small park; Bay Trail. You could picnic, stroll, play with your children. Good views and again, it is free of charge. After that, proceed to Fort Mason Center. There are toilets and many buildings / galleries to explore.

Fort Mason is one of my favorite places to walk. There are top quality art shows in some of the buildings along with permanent galleries and the Flax Art Supply store.

Walked down to check out the used bookstore called Readers Bookstore. Nice place but books are overpriced so we did not buy anything. Overall the place has quite a few shops but they were pretty empty. Nice location near a park. Would not return.

It's more barracks, no walls giving it a fort look. Having said that it's in a great spot for a walk. We walked through here on our way to the Golden Gate bridge so the scenery is actually quite nice but don't expect this big security fort.

Fort Mason was the San Francisco Port of Embarkation for the US Army for over 100 years. Today, it offers a relaxing experience with great scenery, trails for walking, jogging, biking, a large park (grassy) area, gardens, and a youth hostel. The property sits on top of the San Fransisco peninsula and offers sweeping views of both the Golden Gate... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
