This is definitely a must for visitors. Start by meeting at Haight Street and Buena Vista Ave West. There is a corner store for water and/or beer. Then walk up. Yes, up! Remember not to tell your visitors of the hill; that's part of the fun. Walk up past the beautiful houses (and dream of one day owning one), into Corona Heights Park, pass the doggies, then up to Corona Heights vista point. Enjoy the view. Drink that refreshments. Then walk down. Stop by Randall Museum to look at disgusting insects, also potty stop. Now walk towards Castro to the Mission District. Now eat, drink, and be merry. Some suggestions: Ike's, Pizza at Arizmendi Bakery, Anthony's Cookies, Tartine Bakery, Bi-rite Creamery, Four Barrel Coffee.

Corona Heights Playground isn't much, except as a dog park, but if you walk on through the park and climb the promontory at the back, you are treated to a stunning view down onto Market Street, the Duboce Triangle and the Castro. At night it sometimes feels as though the city has a visible pulse, like a living creature, from high up on that rocky tor. It's a little hard to find, involving quite a few twists and turns in the neighborhood, but your reward is well worth the effort. If you find it on a map, be aware that what looks like the most direct route-- 15th Street off Castro, is one way the wrong way. Better to go north one street farther to 14th, turn left, left again on Roosevelt and look for the entrance when you reach Museum Way.
Warning: be careful-- there is no trail to speak of, and there are no protective barriers. If you fall from the rocks you might well roll clear to the bottom, and you won't be getting up any time soon, if at all. As with all such places where exposure is great, it's inherently dangerous, and especially so in the dark. Move with caution and don't exceed your ability or your comfort zone.
This is one of those places most San Franciscans don't even know about. Don't tell them.

There are many vista points in the city but this one is very under rated. It is tucked away in a residential neighborhood and not easy to find for tourists. The view from the top is amazing. This is also a very central point geographically in the city, you can get a great view of many different neighborhoods. This place also has a very interesting, rocky (pun intended) historical past. It is a former quarry that was owned by a pair of hated brothers. The brothers ran a shoddy operation and caused a lot of harm. One day a disgruntled employed murdered the owner and was acquitted to the joy of the residents. Since then it was turned into the park it is today. Anyways you should check it out on a clear day.

Corona Heights Park offers some of the city’s best views from its craggy peak. The base of the hill is at approximately 300 feet (91 m).
Best Place to see a sunrise and sunset in San Francisco!! Please use the following address for parking: 2480 15th St. San Francisco CA 94114. Hiking up to the top from the side entrance near the tennis courts will take 10-15 minutes.

This place has beautiful sweeping views of SF, and is much less crowded than the more popular Twin Peaks. Its up a hill, so you need to walk up a hill for just a couple minutes to get there, but its well worth it for the view.

Wow! This unassuming little hill is just the best place to see the city. To be fair, there is a gentle hike to the top, but the mild effort needed is certainly worth for the vistas afforded from the top of the rocky outcrop. Even our nearly 70 years old cousin did it without trouble.
Take your camera, and if you are really interested in getting some great photos be on top of the hill as the sun goes down. You will be rewarded with some remarkable shots.

It's a nice climb to the top on paths, stairs and rocks. The views from the top are amazing in every direction.

Great views across the city and the bay, not interrupted by trees like the are on Buena Vista Heights. Steep walk up from 16th, less steep from States Street. Entry from Museum Way is virtually flat but you need to get up to Museum Way!

We went up to Corona Heights to take in the views of the city. It was beautiful! The stroll up to the top went through The Castro, which was also a great sight to see.
