If you are in the Haight-Ashbury area you must visit Amoeba Music, which is near the end of Haight Street near Golden Gate Park. It is housed in an old bowling alley so is quite a large store with an enormous stock of music, merchandise...More

Although huge it can be pretty difficult to find exactly what you want. The staff are very helpful though so make sure you pester them. Personally I prefer smaller store which tend to be more focussed and I don't need to see row after row...More

This place is beyond what I have been experienced before as an old music collector incl LP and CD. New releases as well + second hand. Strong recommendation! And this is Ashbury Heights too at the same time!!

Amoeba Music is one of the last of the big, independent record stores left in the country (sadly). But once inside, it's a music lover's paradise, with a ginormous selection of new and used vinyl, CDs, books, tapes, posters and more. If you're a true...More

Loved this place. It really reminds you of how hard it was to find music back before you could download digital copies. This place has such an impressive array of music!

The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and
Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of
the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage
clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops.
While the Summer of Love ended decades ago,
Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of
hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through
its streets can still feel like stepping back in time.
