Magical spot on the coast very close to central San Francisco. Civilized walking path above, or walk down to the beach, it’s all gorgeous. Not too crowded when I’ve been there. Dog friendly as hell! (That is a good thing. Honest.)

Our 100 lb fur baby loves Fort Funston. There's plenty of sniffing paths and running room. For humans the only toilets are portapotties, so that's a bit of a drag, otherwise it's worth the drive to enjoy the spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean with...More

Fort Funston is one of the very best outdoor, off leash dog runs in all of the greater San Francisco area. It's unfortunate that parts of the cliffs and beaches have fallen away off the Great Highway, but there's still lots to see. Parking can...More

Amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, a few benches to enjoy a picnic. Multiple trails, both paved and natural. Dogs may go off leash here, but make sure to clean up after them. Because it's SF coast the area can be chilly, so I recommend...More

All beaches are stunning. This one stands out because of its accommodation for dog walking unleashed. I am not a pet owner and it was still so fun to meet humans and doggies here! The trails are quite the workout. The good thing is all...More

We visited Ft Funston on a recent trip to SF. We used to take our daughter here years ago. It is better than ever. Easy parking. Porta Potties. Great views. Good walking trails. They allow dogs, and I have to say they were all well...More

Fort Funston was near our neighborhood so a number of times we popped over to see the hang gliders- this is a very popular dog park- lots of dogs running wild (unless leash laws are in effect)
