We decided to ride a hop on hop off bus because it seemed like a great way to learn about and see a lot of the city in a convenient way. We did see many great sites and it was fun way to get around. What was lacking was a tour guide. There was not a live person narrating any... More

I think your experience of this tour really depends on your guide. Our 1st live guide spoke so quickly we only ever got half of what he's said, however, Big Bus Blake (ninja tree) and Jolly Josh were fantastic on the night tour as was Ken on the Sausalito route.

I visited San Fran on a family vacation and we decided to try Big Bus as a way to take in the city. I loved being able to drive through all of the districts and hear the history and highlights of each of them. The issue is that the wait time is longer than expected at some stops. We waited... We used this tour having used the same company in several cities. We went on 2 buses. The first one had a live guide. He had an amazing knowledge but spoke extremely quickly which was matched by the speed the bus was travelling at! Blink and you missed it! He was speaking so quickly he was gasping at times! When... Kudos to guide Patrick, and driver Richard! Excellent commentary by Patrick--well paced, engaging, and informative history. And navigating that big bus through city streets, traffic and tourists cannot be easy. Richard made it seem like it was. We hopped off a couple times to walk around and I agree with a past comment that it wasn't always easy to fin... More

We waited 20 minutes then sat on the bus for another 20 while they tried to sell more tickets. Making paid riders wait for you to make money is a poor customer service. We were passed 4 times by other bus tours while we waited. In the end all the tour companies are exactly the same.

When visiting a city you get to see the most by taking a one or two day pass on one of the tour shuttles. BB Tours offers two routes and both have a multitude of stops along the routes. WE took the two day pass which includes an evening tour. The evening tour departs from/arrives back at Fishermen's Wharf and... More

With only one afternoon left and feeling like I hadn't seen much of the city, I made the decision to buy a 24 hour ticket ($50). I was near the beginning of the route (stop 5) so I planned to ride the tour without "hopping off" until I reached stop 21 or 22 (the end). The first guide, Sparkle, was... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
