- Andreas WSkoghall, Sweden14 contributionsGreat experience on New Years eve 2022We went to see the show as a family with two teenage daughters on New Years eve and everyone had a fantastic time! We came early as suggested and had some food and drinks in the lobby. Strongly encouraged - Jay Alexander performed tricks at the guest tables before the show, which was very entertaining. And the show was great!Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 6 June 2023
- kurtk94530El Cerrito, California6 contributionsAn entertaining evening of magic and mentalismI went to the Magic Theater as part of a small private event. Jay was both friendly and engaging as he did everything from do card tricks during dinner to fascinating magic for the entire group. I enjoyed the mentalism more than the slight of hand but Jay did each masterfully. You're sure to have a good time.Visited December 2023Travelled on businessWritten 23 December 2023

Ends early enough to have dinner afterwards. Highly recommend this.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 December 2023

- Tiffany L1 contributionBest Show in San FranciscoWhat a phenomenal show! I really did not know what to expect from a magic show in a small theater and I was thoroughly impressed with what I got to see. Even if all of the tricks can be easily explained, they take a long time to do well and Jay does them VERY WELL! His stage presence is really wonderful. He has truly honed his craft of reading people to a level that is sincerely magical! I took a friend of mine for her birthday and she was really happy with the experience. The speakeasy feel in the "pre-show" waiting area is great, the drinks are fun and tasty, and while I only got the hummus and pita food-wise, that was flippin' delicious. Highly recommend this show to anyone in the area that has not been. The shows sound rather unique from night to night, so I plan on going back!Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 February 2024

I wasn't sure what to expect, but Jay's magic show was incredible. He's hilarious and engaging, and his close-up card magic before the show was unreal. As a huge card magic fan, I was especially impressed by his pre-show cardistry skills.
The theater was intimate, which made the entire experience feel personal. The main show focused on mentalism, and it was mind-blowing. Jay's mental feats were so impressive, it felt like he could read everyone's thoughts!
If you're looking for a unique and entertaining show, this is a must-see! You won't be disappointed

Great fun! Took my 8 year old daughter for her birthday. Whole audience had a blast. Great participation. Funny. Amazing “tricks” and magic. Couldn’t have had a better time. Worth every penny as a local or a visitor.

3 of us went to the Magic Theater and HIGHLY Recommend it!
We've been to several close-up magic acts and Jay's is top-notch. He has a lot of interaction with the audience and the whole experience is like having the show in your home (if it was in a Moroccan Casbah).
We left...Gob-smacked! It's a great show for kids, family, date night--everybody in the 40-seat theater had a fine time.
Not only Jay Alexander a great magician--the Moroccan theater is really fancy (started out as a speakeasy!)
Before the performance, you can purchase drinks and fine Moroccan food and make it "Dinner and a Show."
Park at the ACE Parking lot at 400 Taylor Street, directly across the street--you can reserve parking on line for $25.

Just sorry we can't give this more than five stars - it was absolutely brilliant. It's so good to see magic up close like this - and some of it was truly mind blowing. A very reasonable price for a hugely entertaining event by a brilliant professional. Don't miss it if you're in San Francisco.

The show was absolutely phenomenal. He is a one of a kind performer and his tricks are beyond comprehension. The show is also very funny and the settings is intimate…the whole audience was able to get involved. There is not a bad seat in the house and we were happy to see so many families with children there. Well done Mr. Alexander!!!!

My partner is uncomfortable in tight small upstairs and basement theater spaces where fire exits seem either non-existent or problematic. Is this theater space certified as
safe by the SF Fire Dept and do patrons ever comment about feeling potentially trapped?

Hi 931christopherk,
We have never had anyone mention anything and the fire department has been down here many times.
I would recommend calling us and we can discuss it and I will send you photos.
It is an old San Francisco building and I would hate for your partner to feel uncomfortable.
Best,
Jay Alexander

The doors open and hour before showtime. We have food and drinks in the lounge and close-up magic. The show lasys 75-90 minutes. The entire nigh is 2-2.5 hours if you come for the entire experience.

how much did it cost to go see the show?
FLTraveler57
North Lauderdale, FL3 contributions
$45.00 is correct. We paid an extra $10.00 each for guaranteed front row seats. It was very worth the extra, but keep in mind the theater only has about 6 rows, so all seats are good.

Absolutely. Kids are welcome and the area before the show is a restaurant where you order food, as well as beer or wine if you want. Cozy and exotic, but not a bar.
