Top ways to experience Golden Gate Promenade and nearby attractions
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is easily among the best places in SF to visit as a tourist. Beautiful sea vistas from the top and the bottom is a great place to go for a run/jog/ride a bike. Most people only go to the top of the bridge but the bottom of the bridge has some amazing views and is a great place to just relax and chill, not to mention the unique photography angle

We visisted this area on our cycle tour from Fisho's wharf to Sausalito and found it breathtaking. The parklands seem well maintained and the day was sunny and warm. We stopped several times on our journey and loved every minute of it.

The walk from Fisherman's Wharf to the Golden Gate bridge took me about an hour. A brisk walk with magnificent views and one of my favourite holiday walks. There are quite a few points of interest and a cafe about half way. If you do it before breakfast you can avoid the streams of cycles. You also get to see the early morning fishermen.
A great walk in any weather.

This area is also known as "East Beach" by locals. It was an excellent place to watch the air show, including the Blue Angels during Fleet Week. I looked into buying tickets for the air show in the viewing area at Marina Green. But they were $125 each! That's crazy. The east side of the beach, between the yacht club and GG Bridge was perfect and free! We had a great view of the show and there was plenty of space for everyone. There were lots of people but plenty of room to spread out.

We cycled along here and over the bridge to Sausalito. A great day, great fun. Stop in the huge sports store on the left in the park just before you cross the bridge. One of the bike hire shops gives you $50 back to spend there. Of course its a ploy to get you in the shop, and yes we spent more but it was worth it.

Has to pop along during my business trip. Around an hours walk from Lombard street which wasn’t too bad on a nice morning (thanks jet-lag!)
Watch out for the cyclist, runners and dog walkers but other than that, there is the reward of a toilet and a coffee shop around the Chrissy area which is just a few minutes before reaching the bridge itself.
Great view of the bridge and Alcatraz Island.

We walked the entire length of the promenade when we walked from Fisherman's Wharf right across the Golden Gate Bridge to Vista Point and then all the way back (well almost!). We really enjoyed the walk, apart from all the inconsiderate cyclists on the route, and felt like we had accomplished something when we completed it.

This is somewhat of a haven in a bustling city if the weather permits you could quite easily spend a whole day here taking the fabulous views in and go for lovely walks.

We started the walk on Pier 39 close to FIshermans Wharf and walked all the way until Golden Gate Bridge. One of the most beautiful promenades I have ever visited. You will be rewarded with a lot of amazing views. We talk this walk every time we visit San Francisco. But bring much time, the complete distance to the Golden Gate Bridge is around 4.0 miles.

Flying in to SFO on March 31 arriving at 11:40am in terminal 1. We will be using public transportation to get to your motel, Coventry Motor Inn. Can you help us step by step with the trains or buses we should take. We will each have 1 22 inch suitcase.
Thanks

There are a couple of parking lots in different areas along the bay, but I know for sure there is one where the parking is free. It isn't very big, so it fills up quickly, but it is free. It is right by Crissy Field and the beach just down from Fort Point. Once you park, there are so many things right there you could just walk to.
