Forget the stores in Union Square I found the best. Fabulous neighbour hood in Pacific heights with wonderful individual shops, fabulous bars and eating places, so cool you won't want to leave and you can buy that something special you won't find everywhere. The place has a laid back really wonderful feel about it. Shops are far more interesting than... More

Delightful street with individual shops, instead of 'faceless-every-where-stores'. We were walking some of the neighbourhoods of San Francisco...always something to see, always felt safe...great link from Cow Hollow(another lovely street) to the 'Painted Ladies' of Alamo Sq. and Haight St. AND...Peet's Coffee on corner with Sacramento...'bless them'; open on Thanksgiving Day! (everywhere else was like a grave yard)...they gave us... More

You can get everything on this street from cranberry muffins to a bottle of vermouth to a gluten free croissant or a brandy dipped cigar.

TA shows a picture of Yoshi's to illustrate Fillmore, but Yoshi's closed permanently in 2015. There are restaurants that offer entertainment, however. We tried an Ethiopian place that featured a terrific jazz pianist. Lots of upscale and funky shops.

It has a slight slope so if it is your lazy day start at the crossing with Pacific Avenue down until Sutter Street.

Fillmore Street is a shopper’s delight and a great place for people watching. It’s too commercialized to suit me, however, and I certainly wouldn’t rank it among San Francisco’s must-see attractions. People who only have a limited amount of time to sample San Francisco’s delights would find their time better invested in the city’s more renowned cultural-historic and scenic attractions.

Ventured up to Fillmore Street to have dinner one evening and really enjoyed walking up and down taking in the atmosphere and mooching around all the shops. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, boutiques, beauty salons, book shops etc to checkout whilst you are there.
