About
Known around the world for its Victorian row homes, this spectacular hilltop park is an ideal spot for taking photos. The park is currently undergoing renovations and will reopen Spring 2017. While under construction, a viewing area will remain open to see the infamous Painted Ladies. Please remember to pack out your trash as this is a Leave No Trace Park.

An absolute must! An iconic city that you definitely need to visit if heading to the states
Loved every minute of our visit to San Francisco. Every thing was easily accessible, from airport to hotel in union square on the train. The tram was a great way to get to the harbour and the boat rides were great. Alcatraz and the Golden gate bride a must.

    Great Area to Visit
I visited Alamo Square on the Big Bus Tour as there were frequent busses every 15-20 minutes. Alamo Square was a very smart district of the city where people visit to photograph the Painted Ladies. The park at the Square affords commanding views of the city, and is well worth the visit.

    Beautiful square, houses and views
Probably the most picturesque square in SF. Set on top of one of the many hills, Alamo square offers great views of downtown SF. However, the main star are the Painted Ladies (7 sisters) - 7 nicely painted Victorian houses. Apart from these park is very relaxed with people lying on the grass, sunbathing and having a snack. Great place to visit during the day.

Beautiful City with beautiful neighborhoods. It was a quick trip. I went to see Bryan Adams at a short notice and spent almost three days. I took three tours. Used the city muni and Uber. I hope to go back and spend more time like the wineries salsalito Muir Woods and the Golden Gate Park where the tea room is

Alamo Park a beautiful and cute park. What I love the most about this park was that you can seat anywhere on the grass around here or on the benches that they also have.
The view is simply gorgeous as you can see in the pictures!
The weather was fantastic when we went in June and that helped a lot ❤️💚

We climb to the top of Alabama square for the views of the painted ladies and beautiful Victorian homes. However once we were at the top we saw a beautiful flowers and foliage, a charming playground with miniature painted ladies, dog runs, places to sit, tennis courts, a coffee truck, clean restrooms with soap and toilet paper … And friendly people.

There are warnings that there are coyotes in the area and not to leave valuables in your car.

One comes here to see the famous Painted Ladies, and they are indeed beautiful. I remember when this park was dangerous; not so anymore as this is the home of the rich. Nice green space in a nicely-preserved part of town.

Great place to visit for an hour or two. The park at Alamo Square is pretty nice, but the main attraction is definitely the Painted Ladies. If you're in San Francisco, you pretty much HAVE to check out Alamo Square!

It's really easy to get here by bus - the bus stop is literally right next to Alamo Square (and if you're leaving from Union Square, you only have to take one bus down). Just a little heads up - the park seems to be "leash optional" for dogs, so don't be surprised if you see dogs running around freely and possibly towards you!

I probably wouldn't budget for more than an hour or two max at Alamo Square; there's just not much to do here.

As for my WARNING to "Full House" fans: The "Painted Ladies" are not the Full House "House". Alamo Square was actually only used in the opening credits of the show when the family was having a picnic - but their actual house was not one of the Painted Ladies. Some people (ok, maybe only me :P) thought that the actual house is located at Alamo Square. If you're REALLY interested in checking out the house, it's located at 1709 Broderick Street (also in San Francisco) - it's about a 1 mile walk from Alamo Square if you're absolutely DYING to see it ;)

(For those who don't know what I'm talking about...."Full House" was a very popular '90s sitcom where the fictional family lived in the city of San Francisco)

This would have been a great little park to have a nice picnic lunch, while taking a well deserved break from touring SF. Of course, the main reason is seeing the 7 Painted ladies=a beautiful block of painted Victorian rowhouses, one of which is featured in the oepning credits of the TV show "Full House." We had hoped to return here for the purpose of walking around the neighborhood, but never got the chance, thus my suggestion of bringing a picnic to have in the park. We only got to see these homes during a visit with a tour company. If you like architecture, history, quaint neighborhoods, or are a fan of "Full House," this is a must see. Parking would be difficult.

PLEASE READ THIS!! Posting this review to hopefully prevent further escalation of such unfortunate crimes. My family and I visited the famous Alamo square park, home of the painted ladies and the Full House picnic scene a day after Christmas. Though the location along with the park is a beautiful view and wonderful experience, it is still a very dangerous location due to the areas surrounding the block. Our car was broken into no more than 30 minutes after arriving at the location at 1 PM in broad daylight. Hopefully my post will awaken others who intend on visiting the location, surely still visit and enjoy the park- but keep your wits about you despite being in enamored by the views. Make sure all valuable belongings are either put away safely or brought down with you, and be cautious of looking to touristy to avoid bringing attention to yourself. This location is a HOTSPOT for this kind of activity.

This park is easily accessible by public transportation or taxi. Great place to picnic and take some great photos. The park is dog friendly. Bring a jacket as it can be quite windy.
