I try to stop in the Presidio Cemetery every year around Christmas time to pay my respects. The setting is stunning sitting high on a hill with vistas overlooking the Golden Gate. The cemetery is beautifully maintained with a quiet air of peace and tranquility. The day I was there a group was preparing to place wreaths on several hundred... More

I’ve been fortunate to visit several dozen national cemeteries, and while Arlington will always remain my favorite, San Francisco National Cemetery holds a very special place in my heart. The site is gorgeous and the view to the Bay and the Golden Gate is breathtakingly beautiful. When you are at the Presidio, be sure to stop by to pay your... More

Very well kept cemetery that is a good example of the many past wars. The views are beautiful and you can respectfully cross this cemetery to catch the trail at the top instead of walking next to the road. I was fortunate to see a red hawk and feel how families still take their time to come and pay respect... More

I recommend going to the visitors center first, where they have print outs listing notable individuals buried at the cemetery. It is then possible to drive around, and then park next to the area you wish to visit.

I have visited war cemeteries all over the world. This small National Cemetery on the trail between Presidio and Golden Gate has a lot of history from the Indian Wars to current times. It also has a number of graves of "Buffalo Soldiers" - African American soldiers who were given this name by the American Indians for their bravery on... More

This is an impressive cemetery of honour, which is beautifully situated between the hills and forests. Like all National Cemeteries this one is also very good maintained.

This is a cemetery and a wonderful memorial for the thousands who gave their life in different wars. The size of the site and the number of tombs are sobering and overwhelming. The place is well maintained and has a beautiful view of the bay.

A quiet place to reflect upon the world & its troubles & to remember those who have fought for our freedom. The National Cemetery is in a beautiful location overlooking San Francisco Bay & the Golden Gate Bridge - a very fitting final resting place for America's heroes.

Just visited the San Francisco National Cemetery - and that’s was a visit that gives the wings of time a meaning. The cemetery is lying on top of a high hill viewing over the Bay area and gives the US warriors from wars going back to WW1 a proper and honorable last rest. All tombstones are in scripted with the... More
