I was in SF for work, and on the Saturday I decided to go all the way from the Golden gate bridge to the Palace of Fine Arts - it is a lovely walk, and it is also very educational - you have posts every...More

If you have the right cloths (very windy) you can have a nice walk here along the bay. If you have a few days at your hand and explore the city, then it is worth to walk here from the Golden Gate back towards the...More

This is definitely one of the best places to go to if you want to have a good view both of the Golden Bridge and the Alcatraz. It is less crowded compared to the Presidio area and has a vaster parking area.

Excellent and expansive areas to walk alongside the bay front, all the while admiring the Golden Gate Bridge from afar and appreciating the obvious efforts to redevelop the area into a lusher, greener and people friendly zone. Several areas where cars can be parked. Extremely...More

Crissy Field is recently renovated and the walk along the water is lovely- You can walk from Presidio to underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. Just the best! Better if you have a pup and leash. Lots of runners. A treasure

Crissy Field was a former U.S. Army airfield and was closed in 1974. It is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. A great place to have a picnic!

Great place to take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. A lot of parking and not very crowded. It's a big open space (beach) with a spacious sidewalk. However, be aware .... don't leave any valuables inside your car!! SF is having a...More

We stumbled onto this site by accident. No charge to enter or park! It was filled with locals and empty early afternoon when we were there. It was wonderful to sit at the waters edge, enjoy the kite surfers and boats, and enjoy the GG...More

the beach is fairly small. and its usually pretty windy. but there are no life guards or rangers that i'm aware of...so a temporary 10 x10 ...my guess...probably OK.
