On June 7, 1974, Steve Silver produced a small show in the back room of the Savoy Tivoli Restaurant in San Francisco. The show was to run for six weeks. That was over 37 years ago... Today, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon has the distinguished title of "World's Longest Running Musical Revue." The show - a musical spoof known internationally for its extravagant costumes, outrageous hats, show-stopping numbers and hilarious puns of pop culture and political character - has been seen by over 5.5 Million people, including HRC Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall as well as some of Hollywood's biggest stars. "Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon," hailed as "a constant cascade of showstoppers" by the "San Francisco Chronicle", follows Snow White as she takes a fast-paced journey around the world in search of her "Prince Charming." Along the way she encounters a star-studded, ever-changing line-up of hilarious political and pop-culture characters including Donald and Melania Trump, Adele, Hillary & Bill Clinton, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, President Barack & Michelle Obama, Hamilton, Bernie Sanders, Sia, Taylor Swift, Vladimir Putin, Chris Christie, Barbra Streisand, Miley Cyrus, Orange is the New Black, Empire's Cookie, Oprah and the San Francisco Giants

The best only in San Francisco event !!. Have been over 40 times , at least once a year and anytime I have out of town guests. The plot stays the same Snow White hunts all over for her prince, but the skits change to skewer celebrities in the news and changing cast members talents/voices . Always great entertainment, and... Read any review of BBB and you'll find they're all the same. A tremendous show which is constantly changing with the times. The current theme is a lady roaming the world looking for love. On her travels, she comes across many "famous" people, including the politicians, actors and fictional characters. To truly enjoy the entire show, it'll help if you're... More

Be ready for a variety, colorful, fun cabaret type show. I wouldn't say it was hilarious though. More of like a chuckling at times and not like a stand up type constant laughing comedy type show. Just giving you an idea of what to expect. The cabaret seating is right! This is an older large white crowd (sorry) that loves... More

I've been to Beach Blanket Babylon several times and it is always a GREAT show. The story line doesn't change, which makes it a great vehicle and allows the writers to keep it very topical, politically. It doesn't make any difference whether you are "red" or "blue", they poke satirical fun at everything. A great value for the comedic relief... More

We went on our first night in San Francisco, and I honestly don't know how my trip could get better. The show is kitschy and fun with so much talent, not least of which is evident in the unbelievable costumes, wigs, and hats. We ordered tickets in advance which I would recommend for out-of-towners. Oh, and you can get a... More

A wonderful satirical comedy review for locals and tourists alike in San Francisco. Terrific costumes, singing, sets. It has it all. You will leave with a smile on your face.

If you like political and celebrity satire mixed with outstanding musical talent, this play is for you. The theater is quaint and comfortable. It is really a unique entertainment experience that will leave you mentally energized and delighted. One tip - even though the tickets gave a "doors open time," they actually opened a bit earlier - so be sure... More

Do you want a night of laughs and entertainment? Beach Blanket Babylon is the place to go. Good times and fun entertainment. Bring tourists, family and friends. It is well worth it. A musical and comedy on current life. Plus make time to walk around the North Beach section of town. It has a lot of history in the area.

I had been once before. I still don't know how to describe it. This time I went with two girlfriends that had never been. It is hard to find and not well marked. Don't expect the taxi driver to know where it is even though everyone in San Fran seems to know about it. Arrive at least an hour early... More

Thank you for attending BBB and for your review! The show is best described as a San Franciscan take on love: we meet Snow White looking for her Prince Charming. This search takes her around the world where she encounters a star-studded lineup of ever-changing celebrities and political figures! We look forward to having you again! More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
