Walked along the bridge on a wintery and cloudy day. It was a beautiful walk into the cloud although you couldn't see.anythong off the bridge. Make sure you bring good walking shoes or ride a bicycle over if walking isn't your thing. If you are planning to spend a long time there, male sure you bring some food/snacks as the... More

To be honest unless you're into bridges or engineering then that's it. It's iconic, good to see and drive, walk and cycle over or even sail under. It's a must part of your visit to San Francisco of course.

I am the lucky guy to sail under Golden gate Bridge and see it from an other angel. It is not the largest bridge I have been under but it have a very special colour.

We bought a 3 day MUNI pass and assumed this gave us full access to street level transport (cable cars, buses, street cars). However, after taking the 38 to a certain bus stop and catching the 30 (also includes the 70 and 101) we discovered that these were run independently and cost $5. So be aware of these buses when... Walking over the golden gate bridge and looking at the skyline of SF is a must when visiting the city. Walk all the way over to the lookout point (on the hill) for the best views.

We took a hop on off bus tour, which took us over the bridge - we sat on top of the bus as it was a clear day. Amazing to drive over something so iconic, seen in pictures and movies over the years - well worth doing!

This is a beautiful bridge with so much history. Plenty to see and walk around in the area which gives a good background and history. Walk out to the first pillar, see the historic plaque and enjoy the extra views. Must do!

Of course I’ve also included this place in my travel plans: the red steel monster called Golden Gate Bridge is very impressive. It was once the largest bridge in the world, but today it’s only number 8 on the list of international bridges. From the other side you can enjoy a magnificent view of the bay of San Fransisco. A...
