This was one of the true highlights of our trip to San Fransisco, well worth every dollar. We booked before leaving the UK, very good advice, and they meet you at your hotel beforehand, very professional and well organised. A fab and very interesting day...More

I absolutely loved Alcatraz Island and it one which you have to do when visiting San Fran. The audio tour in the prison was very very interesting and the boat journey to the island is only around 10 minutes if that!

Tips for going to Alcatraz - book well in advance (months ahead) especially in the peak summer period - the audio tour is a MUST - very well done, and adds so much to the experience, it is included in the cost of the tickets...More

Book this well in advance, rest assured you will not be dissapointed. Fantastic tour with well educated guides, on the night tour you get some extra bits thrown in 'behind the scenes' and there very much worth it. The extra of the 'closing of the...More

We booked the night tour as part of our honeymoon stay in San Francisco. We were not disappointed, the trip was fascinating. The ferry left on time at 5.55pm upon arriving at the island the boat circled so that we could take lots of pictures....More

We had been sceptical about going to such a big tourist attraction, but it was incredibly well-organised & efficient from start to finish. The boat ride was a great way to get a different view of San Francisco and both the Bay and the Golden...More

A short ferry ride across the bay is all it takes. During the summer it gets very busy so pre booking is necessary. The self guided tour around the prison is a good thing to do. Some of the prison is falling into ruin and...More

Plan ahead to get tickets or you need to get them from a combined tour. The audio tour is really well done, able to keep boat loads of people moving along without too much insanity.

We booked relatively last minute (2 weeks out) and we missed the booking for the first trip out. If you know its going to be busy then you just accept it. Boarding was fast and easy and you have a great view of the bay....More

There is a cafe at Pier 33, a snack bar on the boat, and there is a cafe on Angel Island where you can purchase food and drinks. Since you're on the 9:30am departure, that means you're going to Alcatraz Island first. The... More
