Tonight we made our first visit to the Criterion Theater, a lovely restored theater in downtown Bar Harbor, ME. We sat n the balcony which was very nice.

Popcorn is horrible and butter is awful. How can you run a movie theater with terrible popcorn and tasteless butter.

My wife and I sat in the balcony, where you can order wine or beer for $7 and $6, respectively. The balcony has six separate sections, each with only a handful of seats and tables for your drinks. The building offers a fun, historic atmosphere for a very reasonable price. The young staff was friendly. This was a great activity... More

Loved this theater in every way. A great way to turn back the clock during a trip to Bar Harbor. One movie, one screen, one showtime -- the hardest decision was which snacks to buy. The theatre is run by a nonprofit and prices were very reasonable.

We ate dinner in Bar Harbor on a Friday night when an art tour of local businesses was going on. The 1932 Criterion Theater opened its doors to visitors who wished to browse through the theater. What a gem! The theater reopened a year ago. It shows classic films, such as 'The Wizard of Oz', and the night we were... More

THe 1932 Criterion is a gem in Bar Harbor- such a pretty historic theater. We took a night and went to see a movie during our vacation- it was an older film and fun to wAtch in a beautiful nostalgic theater. And bargain priced too!!!

This 1932 theater had been beautifully and lovingly restored to it's wonderful Art Deco glory. There was actually a Speak Easy below the theater! My advise is: go in and take a look, see a show there or take a tours. All wonderful

We've been coming to Bar Harbor for many years, but somehow never made it to the Criterion until last night, to see the new "Star Trek" movie, which I though was ghastly. The theater is fun; with its Art Deco trimmings, it's like a teeny tiny version of the Castro in San Francisco! Although there is a bar (yes!) on... More

Saw Disney's The BFG at The Criterion on a drizzly evening in Bar Harbor. Ticket prices-$7-8 for adults and $6 for children-are very reasonable as are concession prices. A great family activity for indoor evenings!
