This was such a wonderful stop. My 10 year old and 12 year old were fully engrossed as they learned about the creatures in the touch tank to the lobster hatchery and the marsh walk was wonderful. Every guide we had was extremely knowledgeable and we all walked away having learned a great deal. The marsh walk was especially interesting... More

Loved this exhibit, especially the hands on exhibits and the lobster tanks. The tanks feature different sized lobsters, starting from the very smallest. Docents were very friendly and informative.

Traveling with 17 and 18 year old students it is a delight to see them touch and feel the sea life of the area. They love the touch tank and watching the "baby lobsters". The staff are wonderful to work with. We look forward to visiting the Oceanarium again next year.

"David" is an expert & was terrific with his program on Lobster Fishing in the Museum. "Marilyn" was also great in her descriptions & talk at the tank inside the Discovery Pool section. The young woman in the Hatchery was equally knowledgeable and full of facts on how these lobsters are hatched, incubated to grow & released. This is a... More

This was a great stop. Went with twin 13 year olds and we all learned something and had fun. Its somewhat old-school, and almost feels like you're on a class field trip. You start with the lobster boat and learn about the process of lobster fishing, proceed to the hatchery building and then spend time at and interactive 'petting zoo.'... More

My wife, daughter and I visited the Oceanarium on a July mid-day, and it was the best value for the money in our nearly two weeks in the Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park area. Our tour ($17 apiece) of about 2.5 hours included a presentation in a lobster hatchery, a nature walk, a presentation about lobster fishing, and presentation about various... More

We have a 6 year old & a 16 year old, it's hard to find activities we all enjoy but the Oceanarium was a hands-down family favorite! We all liked different parts but everyone enjoyed something there! The touch tide pool was really awesome we learned a lot about the critters in there! Did you know that sea-stars & urchins... More

Wonderful for families with young children because they would get to see ocean creatures and be able to touch them and hold them. We learned a lot about lobsters and the different creatures of the sea. Hands on experience.

Very knowledgeable and personable folks work here! They teach you about the sea creatures you are looking at, and the life of lobsters from eggs to adulthood is very fascinating! And if you are lucky, they will have some baby lobsters on hand when you visit! If not, they have photos and still explain the entire process!
