Considered one of the toughest courses in the nation, and named one of the top three golf clubs in Hawaii by Golf Digest, this magnificent golf course was carved out of a rain forest on the windward side of the 2,000-foot Ko'olau mountain range.

A must play any time in Hawaii. The front 9 reminds me of a Jurassic Park movie... The only reason it's not a 5 star is because the back 9 had been flooded & was in really bad shape. In that bad of condition, people shouldn't play the back- but the front 9 twice. Scenic views with plush Forrest. Pretty... More

The Koolau Golf course is aganist the amazing Koolau Mountains. They are majestic & incredibly green! I can't think of a more beautiful view! They rent the building out for Confrences & parties. We had our grandsons One Year Baby Luau there. You have the option of them supplying the food or you can bring in your own. Nice venue... More

This course is a BEAST. The staff kept apologizing to me for the condition of the course - they'd received 10 inches of rain in the past 2 weeks. The course was slushy in some places, but the only balls I lost were ones I hit decidedly out of bounds - of which there is A LOT. I can definitely... More

Pros: Good price as far as Hawaii goes, amenities, friendly staff, fewer players than a Honolulu course, and scenery. Cons: The course maintenance has been lacking. The jungle has taken over in some areas on four holes on the back nine. Number 15, if I recall correctly, fairway is covered in this slush, muddy jungle soup. We lost three balls... More

The epitome of Hawaii golf.. deep in the rain forest. Course was muddy due to overnight downpour. Cart path only. Teed off at 7am, very few people playing today, so all by myself. Took advantage of $25 replay, because I like to torture myself. Had a blast. Played 36 in under 5 hours. I make it a point to play... More

We golfed here on our first morning in Hawaii. It is definitely a challenging course, as promised. The beauty of the mountains and the rainforest surrounding almost make you forget just how many balls you have lost. Each hole has its own challenges, and requires precision and accurate tee shots, if your driver isn’t straight or trustworthy I don’t recommend... More

The fairways were narrow with bush and hazards on each side and ravines to get over, so it would be advised to layup and stay on the fairway if and when possible. The locals advise to take as many balls as your handicap as this is likely to be the amount you would lose. As a visitor to the course... More

The views on the back nine are crazy. But the course is in a tropical rainforest so its wet. If you go on a day when it rains be ready for mud, humidity, and bugs. The course layout is tight with lots of blindshots. If you hit the ball OB forget it. Its gone. If it was a dry day... More

There's a reason this course is rated as one of the most difficult in the world. It's nestled right into the side of a mountain. The views from some of the holes are spectacular. There's no rough whatsoever on many of the holes. Miss the fairway and your ball is lost. Unless you're a very accurate golfer, bring many, many... More
