Lovely trail - starts out pretty easy, but then gets steep quickly. Do not go if it has rained recently as the trail is natural ground and the rain would make the ground very clay-like and slick. There are two pillboxes to stop at for...More

We were at the playground on a Sunday morning at Sunset Beach Elementary and the man directing traffic for the church was telling us about this hike. Mahalo for the tip! Next time I would be more prepared (was wearing a short skirt, not great...More

We were staying on the north shore and decided to go do the hike before our showers one morning. For us, the most challenging part of the hike was that it had rained the night before making the inclines slippery. Not a good hike to...More

Nice hike. It is steep. When we hiked, it was slippery & muddy. Don’t try it if it’s been raining. I cannot imagine trying this without sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. Plenty of shade. I'm still confused about it being a loop....More

The trailhead is hidden away across the parking lot. I visited just after the rain and the first part of the hike was almost a mud slide. However, the ropes and wooden 'stairs' helped. On top, the path leads to an old WWII bunker and...More

We visited the pillbox with our family and friends. The kids and adults had a blast and enjoyed the outdoor exercise as well as the pleasant views. It's a must see if you're in the area. Make sure to bring water and snacks to enjoy....More

This hike is short but steep. The trail is well marked. There is a rope you can hold on to for the steeper areas of the trail. The ground on top is covered with pine needles and will get slippery if it rained earlier that...More

Our whole family made it up in 28 min, and we have children ages 6,8,11,12. My husband and I are 38 and 43 and are relatively fit. It is pretty steep for about 1/2 the trail but then a nice incline walk to the first...More

We hiked up to both pillboxes on a Saturday morning. We had to take a few stops along the way due to the steepness of the trail. But, it was such a great hike. Went to the first pillbox and was able to find a...More
