Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

During our trip, we repeatedly visited this great store. In fact, we probably rang-up more than $1,600. from our 3 or 4 visits...and had a great time doing it. We bought a wide variety of items to give our friends back home. After you spend a certain amount of money in this store, they give you a complimentary set of tiki style coasters. We must have come home with a dozen or more of those coaster sets. Regardless, the store has a plethora of island oriented trinkets and cool unusual souvenirs to fit most any desire.

Granted, the store's many customers made for rather long lines at the register. Yet we understood and given the number of people the cashier had in line, we found the staff to be quick and courteous. I asked if they had a website where we could buy items on-line and ended up meeting the owner, Andre, who was extremely pleasant and very friendly. He said they were working on a website for offering their goodies online...Andre, we're waiting! ~ If you like to shop, Aloha General Store is your stop! ~

Order Da Works! Shave Ice with ice cream on the bottom. I recommend the rainbow flavor combo. The ladies who served us were friendly. Cash only.

We made a special trip to the Aloha General Store on our recent trip and again it was AMAZING! Their homemade syrups are delicious! We had shave ice in Waikiki on this stay and I tried a Blue Hawaii shave ice and it was overly sweet and the syrup almost burned my throat it was so strong. But not at Aloha General Store, it was worth the special trip and their Blue Hawaii is nothing short of outstanding! Thank you again for the tastiest shave ice on Oahu!

Now that you have wandered away from the center of Oahu, Time to go for some relaxed shopping. whether by bus or rental car, now that your in Haleiwa time for a break.

They have a variety of Hawaiian souvenirs, T-shirts, and Aloha shirts. They even have things here you wont find downtown.

The staff is helpful and frendly

Matsumoto Shave Ice has nothing on Aloha General Store's Shave Ice. The parking is convenient and there almost never a line!

We have had shaved ice at three locations and these were the best. You must ask for it the local way, ice cream in the bottom and condensed milk on top. We tried mango, passion fruit, banana and coconut flavors. Three flavors at a time. They were all good. This shaved ice was recommended to us by a Honolulu guide and he says it's the best on Oahu.

After having shave ice at Aloha General Store two years ago and again this year, we decided to try Matsumoto's and were very disappointed. Aloha General Store is definitely the place you want to go for your treat. First, they give it to you in a huge plastic cup without charging for it. There are both a plastic spoon and good-sized straw to savour every last drop. We always have the "whole meal deal" - LOL - a huge scoop of ice cream on the bottom, topped with the shave ice and complimentary condensed milk. You won't need to eat for several hours after this beauty! The serving personnel are very pleasant and chatty. You don't feel like you're in an assembly line. The parking is great because it's in a large mall and there are several other shops and restaurants you can visit while parked there.

We go to Hawaii once a year, and the Aloha General Store is always on the list. The great shaved ice and shaded seating keeps us coming back. The staff is friendly and helpful, and always seems to remember our frequent visits.

We had shave ice at Matsumoto's and Aloha General store today. Aloha general Store was by far better shave ice! Here is the problem with Matsumoto's: They put less flavoring on their shave ice. They give you a Dixie cup size wooden spoon and a straw that is too small to use. The straw is too short and narrow. It is annoying at Matsumoto's because they charge you for the plastic cup. You pay extra for the cup and they put a paper sno-cone inside. You get very little shave ice and it tastes like acid washed paper and a piece of tree bark... cuz of the spoon. Save yourself the hassle of Matsumoto's long line...The only reason they have long lines is because they advertise with foreign travel agencies...go to the general store IT IS BETTER!!!
