Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An impressive church, not the original on the site, this one was completed in 1928. It stands impressively back form the street next to the cemetery. Well maintained. The cemetery is now much smaller than it was, and it is not known how many have been buried here as many of the markers have disappeared. It is however well maintained and worthy of a few minutes to look round

We attended the Sunday morning Mass here again and loved it. Very full attendance, easy to read video boards, well maintained Church.
Parking right across the street. Happy to see the Catholic, prolife school too.
Very easy to Keep The Faith in Lahaina.
Peace.

Beautiful old but well, maintained church. I've only gone here for the TLM at 1 pm. They remove the Novus Ordo "butcher block" so the high altar can be used. Low Mass only but generally with organ accompaniment. Missalettes with the prayers in both English and Latin are available at the back of the church.

We stopped by here for 7am Mass on Sunday, May 18th. Of course, just getting to Maui the night before, it was a "surreal 12pm" to us. We had big time jet lag!
Maria Lanakila - which means "Our Lady of Victory" - is in Lahaina, just a couple blocks from downtown Old Lahaina. About a 5-minute walk to Front St., if you don't get distracted. It's in an old neighborhood, which makes sense since this church was established back in 1846. Lahaina is "the Cradle of Faith" on the island of Maui.
If you plan to attend Mass here, know that parking is a premium. You can find parking on the street, but you may have to look a bit to find a spot. Get here early and there should be no problem - no more than a block or so away. Street parking is 3 hours, and there is plenty to see around the church and casually-walking to the downtown shopping area. There is also a parking lot directly across the street from Maria Lanakila. However, it will cost you $5 for 2-hours, or more for longer time. This is the case for most lots in Lahaina - and there are quite a few of them. The best deal we saw was all-day for $4. Back to the church . . .
It is old and well-maintained. The 7am Mass was well-attended. There was also a choir with guitars and ukuleles. As you would expect, it's a locals' church. Friendly and welcoming. Half-way through Mass, I quietly told my wife: "There sure are a lot of Hawaiians here!" (I am so funny with no sleep in 24 hours!)
To our way of thinking, attending Mass at Maria Lanakila was a nice way to begin our week in Hawaii. Of course, there is absolutely NO WAY that anyone can put a numerical experience value on one of God's houses. Because for this TripAdvisor rating, or any human rating . . . God always gets a "10."

I think it is really wonderful that this parish offers the TLM. Unfortunately, we were not there on one of the weekends that it is offered, so we attended the 10:30 am Novus Ordo. The Mass was for "Ascension Sunday". We attend TLM and Novus Ordo in our home diocese.
Plan to arrive 15-20 min ahead of time if you would like a good pew. We parked at a free parking lot hidden near Luakini Street and Panaewa Street. That way, we could enjoy Lahaina town after Mass without worrying about parking. The church is historic, and therefore not air-conditioned. The narrow windows are open for Mass, and there is some air movement.
It is often difficult to find a reverent Mass when traveling, and this one was a respectable choice. No heretical preaching or over-the-top liturgical abuse. Don't expect any hula here, just your regular Catholic Novus Ordo. Music is from OCP's Breaking Bread hymnal, and is played from a keyboard in the choir loft. Music selections were one hymn and the rest the standard OCP fare. The sound was pretty loud, and all of the chants were "accompanied", which I found to be unusual. A cantor stands at a podium at the front instead of the choir loft.
The congregation is asked to stand from the Lamb of God/Agnus Dei until everyone has received Communion. I have always disliked this, because it does not allow the proper prayer posture for being in front of the exposed Blessed Sacrament. I know some dioceses do this, but our home diocese does not. We knelt anyway!
A nice cultural touch is a lei for the priest brought at the Offertory.
There is a little kiosk selling rosaries and a few holy cards before and after Mass. I picked up a rosary, but was very disappointed that they were out of anything St. Damien of Molokai. I did not know that the saint prayed at this church during his life! That was very special to know.

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. There is beauty in simplicity. I equate its elegance to that of Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik. It is an excellent stop while in Lahaina.

My wife and I attended mass last Saturday at 5:30 mass. They had a choir which was absolutely magnificent. They sang acapella in the Tongan language.

We went here for our Sunday worship. the Only downside might be that the Pastor's English was not very good and he was difficult to understand, but we would certainly return to this beautiful place

This church came into existence in 1843 and is small and intimate - the choir sings with heavenly voices and They sound like they are singing as if their very salvation depended upon it.

This is one of the few Roman Catholic churches in Maui. It is very quaint and old fashioned. I often go Saturday or Sunday evening and then go for a bite to eat after watching the beautiful sunset on Front Street. Parking lot is across the street.

Of course it is said in English! For all those to attend to fully hear and understand the word of God. Because it is in Maui Hawaii, some dialoque/chants may be said in Hawaiian but you will be able to read and follow along the entire mass. The hymns are all sung in English. Hawaii is a US speaking state you know:-) Enjoy your mass, it's a really beautiful place to worship and enjoy the ambience of the Hawaiian culture.
