We visited the big Buddha and the buildings surrounding it. It was the exact replica of the Buddha that we visited in Japan. The setting is tranquil and offers a place for people to pray.

We came to the Jodo Mission because of geocaching, but have returned on more recent trips because of the calming nature of this venue. A really neat place to visit and learn a little bit more about this culture.

Although this site does not take very long to visit it is just off the highway and worth seeing the big Buddha, There is also a giant temple bell.

Found the Mission on a side street across from the Cemetery. Was able to walk the grounds, but could not enter the main building. Use peace when you visit, this is still a sacred area. You do not need to attempt to ring the bell...More

It was most unexpected for a group of 6 Buddhists to find a pagoda on Maui. The buildings are Japanese as is the adjoining graveyard. Altogether beautiful and in a beautiful setting and the beach just 20 metres down the road.

This is one of the stops on the Historical tour of Maui. It is a hidden gem. The cook house is set up as a theater and Edison films that have been rescued from the National Archives are presented . Superb. and affordable.

My son and I stopped by and checked this out in the morning. No one was there! It was so peaceful! Not much more than a 15 minute spot to visit. But took some nice pics and went on our way.

We didn't know of this place until I was looking up places to see on Trip Advisor! Beautiful and peaceful setting with some great picture taking opportunities.
