Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The large Banyan tree is spectacular and the town of Lahaina is lovely to visit. We stopped in at the pizza shop on Prison street for lunch - two large pizza slices and a couple of cold beer for well under $20. Super cool 'quaint local spot' to stop for lunch. We walked around the town for hours on two different occasions. We did notice the shops have mulitple locations for the same store, so don't be fooled by that. Local artists and a wonderful spot for the sunset. A definite must visit when in Maui!

The Banyan Tree provides an awesome unbelievable moment when first seen in Lahaina. The tree is so vast and the branches spread out so far and wide hard to believe it is all one tree. The spread of the tree could have been more if it was not blocked by the Courthouse building on the west side. The tree provides wonderful shade and is a great gathering place. The city has installed benches under the tree for people to sit and enjoy. One should not miss visiting this tree when in Lahaina.

Beautiful block with Banyan trees. It was amazing to walk through and see how they intricately wind and grow into each other. I took lots of photos of the trees from different angles.
If you visit, please be mindful and respectful of the trees. There are signs that say no swinging or climbing. On our second visit, there was a mom watching her two boys climb up and down the trees. Please be respectful to the area and all its expectations to preserve the area for others to enjoy.

This area has been cleaned up tremendously and is very safe. Incredible & amazing tree toward the end of front street. The tree is very old and interesting to look at. Cool Cat Cafe has live music Thurs - Sunday nights and is close by the banyan tree (you can see the tree from the restaurant). Check it out. Also, you can take photos close by with live parrots. We have taken many photos over the years with Brian and the amazing parrots. Highly recommend checking out the banyan tree. Steve Concialdi

Fabulous old Bayan tree. Great place to sit in the shade and enjoy a cool drink, rest your feet, or enjoy a picnic lunch or dinner. An incredible number of birds roosting in the tree. Sometimes local artists showing their work. A great land mark to use to meet up with the rest of your party. A historic building in the square, with things to see and clean free restrooms. Free parking a few blocks away if you do not mind a walk.

We live in Venice Fla and love the banyon trees located there. This tree makes our trees look like minor leaguers. The tree is massive and so impressive
We never experienced problems with homeless or skateboards. Even so, look past that and focus on the majesty of this tree.
I can’t imagine returning to Maui without stopping by to say hello to this giant You must visit

Be sure to stop at the park to enjoy some shade and wonder about the Banyan tree.
We have scored some nice art when the park has hosted local artists.
The kids love it there but we need to keep them off of the tree. Great place for family photos .

The banyan tree is very intriguing. The entire park with what looks like many trees is really one tree. It’s definitely one of a kind and worth seeing. However, the main issue we had with it was the “riff raff” that was occupying the park. These folks were loud and consuming inappropriate substances in front of young kids. It’s too bad the local authorities allow this in a popular family tourist spot. Aside from the tree, there isn’t much else to see.

The Banyan Tree Park is home to the largest Banyan Tree in the United States. It provides shade and is a popular meeting place. The regular craft fair and art shows have been suspended. This tree is healthy and well maintained. At sunset the birds fly into the tree to sleep. There is a unique view of the tree from the 2nd floor of the Historic Lahaina courthouse or from Cool Cat Cafe.

We had a morning of exploring here and took some time to rest in-between our exploration of the town before going whale watching. Sitting here where there are plenty of benches we meet and chatted with a number of different people. The tree it's self is around 200 years old and it is enormous. There is no other tree like this that the roots come down looking almost like more tree trunks. There are shops around two sides of the square the front has the museum and seafront. Great places for all ages and abilities, spend as long as you like shops to the side sell snacks, ice-creams and shaved ice.

I visited Maui in June of 2017 and bought some essential oil from a vendor who also had some very unique wood working items. He was the only one of his kind there and I paid inside at the payment kiosk I lost his card, but would like to get contact information to see about getting some items shipped.

I don't know the answer to your question but if you can remember any store or restaurant names where he was around, I would call them and ask for help. If it was in the park, try calling the old courthouse.

The "regular" woodworkers I know of are displayed in Maui Hands gallery. Google maui hands to get to their website. click on woodwork on the left hand side and it will show a list.
If you're referring to the people that sell crafts under the Banyan tree on the weekends, I have no clue. Hope this helps.

Are there golf courses there on the island?
Written 26 June 2017
There are more golf courses then beaches near the resort areas, or so it seems. Bring your wallet for sure. It is very expensive to golf the Championship courses. September, and October, are the slowest months, or so I was told. Things start to pick up in early November and the Holiday Season is absolutely peak.

Hello,
I was hoping someone could please recommend a beautiful park in West Maui to take portrait style photographs.
We will be in Kihei for a wedding and we would like to take some photographs in a park type setting-
I would like a spot that has a lush green lawn and lots of native Hawaiian flowers in the background.
I realize this is Hawaii so obviously it's all beautiful
but I was hoping someone could recommend some particular spots that they think would work.
Thanks

Banyan Tree Park is pretty but dirt no lawn. Kaanapali Beach Resort has beautiful lawns with flowering trees and bushes everywhere along with the ocean as background.

This location is very dark and not what you are looking for.

We usually stay long enough to eat our shave ice and cool off.
The tree itself is so large there is plenty going on with artists and locals underneath it that you could stay for an hour or so. Good stuff you must see it first hand. Enjoy.
