Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The lookout is located off Highway 30 between mile markers 8 and 9. During the winter months, it is known as the best place on Maui for humpback whale watching. Views of the coast, mountains, Pacific Ocean and some neighboring islands are incomparable. There is a parking lot and designated guard-railed viewing area. This is a great photo op spot.

If you love humpback whales like I do, + gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, then this is the place for you! The whales are so spectacular as they frolic in the ocean, spouting, rolling and my favorite, breaching! the sunrise and sunset here are simply AMAZING! This is one place you ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT want to miss! You WONT regret it!

We stopped here twice, once on our way to Lahaina and again on our way back. We saw lots of whales both times. On our second stop, we stayed to watch the sunset, which was beautiful. The day after this, I met a photographer who told me he came to Maui specifically to take sunrise pictures at Haleakala and sunset pictures at this lookout. He told me this was one of the best places in the world to see the "green flash" that sometimes occurs at sunset. I wish I had known that while I was there so I could have watched for it.

This lookout is a must stop during whale season Dec to April. We stopped here five times during our seven days in Maui this March. Whales in all directions. Make sure you bring your binoculars to get close up views and you will see whales jumping out of the water. Suggest cameras with viewfinders since sun affects displays. Getting out of parking lot can be an adventure depending on time of day

This is a great lookout spot with gorgeous views. I know many people don't bother with look out spots and think it's not worth getting out of your car to do but I'd highly recommend this spot.
People are constantly taking photos and coming and going so we never have a problem getting a parking spot. It's a good spot if you have young kids as you can spot whales and we saw several giant turtles below. "Turtle Town" which is a spot that Turtles love is in this area so there are typically many turtles below which is fun for the kids.
Great spot for some quick photos and gorgeous view. I've never come here for a sunset but I'd imagine it's gorgeous!

Very nice lookout above the sea, between Maalea and Lahaina looking south and west sides of Maui, good for whale watching and sunsets, especially if you take trail that goes down the shore.

this very busy lookout is easily seen...it's right on the highway...I have no idea where that name came from I've Maui 36 years and have never heard it referred to by that name...
at any rate it has parking and as most other have said offers truly fantastic views and excitement...very popular...stunning sunsets...
I know it as just 'the Pali Lookout' or McGregor Point, which is actually nearby with an old light beacon...alot of locals shorefishing...

Driving south and toward the convergence valley between the two mountains of Maui, on the western south shore of the island is the overlook that is amazing. Great pic spot and views of some of the other islands, as well as the different shades of color within the pacific ocean...

Make sure that you stop and take time to enjoy the amazing views. 'Don't rush through this stop. If you have time take your camera and get lots of shots. You won't regret it. Aloha

Saw several whales and the access was easy from the main road. Beautiful views. Visited earlier in the day.
