Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful looking but . . .
This beach is across the street from a County sewer treatment plant.
University of Hawaii tests revealed sewer at this beach.
The EPA is fining the County for polluting the ocean.

My husband & I initially tried to go to Black Rock, but couldn't find parking & found this beach after a quick Google. There is a fairly large, paved parking lot, nice picnic tables, grassy area, bathrooms, & a beach shower to rinse off after you're done playing in the sand/ocean. Since this is so close to Black Rock, there was great snorkeling - we saw quite a few scuba divers as well! The waves weren't as rough at this beach as some of the others on the island, so good for littles to play in & to swim in generally. The sand is soft & the view is gorgeous. Highly recommend this beach for an easier trek-in/trek-out with all of your beach gear & a relaxing & fun beach day!

Good snorkelling, suitable for beginners, free parking but it gets full by 11:00. Beach showers are handy for rinsing off the salt water and sand. Not much shade so bring a beach umbrella if you don’t want too much sun. 15-20 minute walk to Black Rock by the Sheraton to try another spot to snorkel.

More sewer processing is being built across the street. The sewer processing in Mahinahina has closed and the sewer from that area is being sent to Kaanapali. The County of Maui did publish a map showing how the wastewater, that contains sewer flows North from this beach park.
A hospital is being built and 800 homes are scheduled to be built in this area. I hope they build another sewer processing plant for them.

We traveled to Kahekili by trolley from our hotel. We enjoyed the ride because we got to see other areas of Maui. The trolley driver was very helpful to us. The park and beach area was full of people enjoying the beautiful scenery. Parking is available.
My impression was that many families brought their own beach chairs and umbrellas. I did not see any beach rentals.
I enjoyed just catching the sun on the beach. My husband loved the snorkeling. He saw more sea life at Kahekili than on the catamaran snorkeling trip we made.

This is the best snorkeling beach on Maui. Go early. Plenty of parking, right on the beach. Restrooms. Picnic tables. Grass. Showers. Parking lot is public but looks like a part of a hotel parking lot. Big sign but still kinda hidden in the cul-d-sac among the hotel/condo entrances. Reef runs parallel to beach about 20 yards out. Straight out from the restrooms is best snorkeling. Big variety of fish, but not huge schools. Some very unique ones. And at least one scary looking eel. Very clear water. The surprising part is hardly anyone knows about this place. And it’s just a exit north from Kaanapali which is overcrowded and has poor to no to expensive parking. So, enjoy but please please don’t tell anyone.

Kahekili Beach Park is a great place to visit for beach, snorkeling, swimming, almost anything. It is very clean, there are bathrooms, and a large area with tables under shade. Parking is a challenge. While there is a lot, it fills up early and then you just have to wait your turn. It’s definitely worth it.

We enjoyed this Beach on two separate afternoons. Parking is free and plentiful. There is a plug-in for EV. Facilities include a shelter, restrooms, picnic tables, showers to wash off the sand, water fountains. The waters are relatively calm, warm. Beach bottom is sandy. Busy, but not too busy.

We were staying at Kahana Beach Resort and discovered this public park/beach in past visit. Has great parking, lawn above beach area, restrooms/changing area with shower area by beach to clean sand off your feet. Shaded gazebo in park. Just a great access spot on a world famous beach!

We enjoy this beach a lot and appreciate the ample parking lot. The sand was fun for sand castles, the waves push you onto shore and pull you back in. There are so many fish among the coral. While we were swimming and floating, a turtle swam past us. We didn’t have our snorkel gear, but we put on our goggles and followed him for a while. We enjoyed walking the path to Castaway Cafe for dinner. There was no wait for a table at sunset, even though it was a Saturday.

Can you rent the pavilion and BBQs? Thanks!
Written 26 July 2019
It is first come first serve basis, its part of the Maui parks and recreation right near the Westin Villas and you bring your own supplies.

Aloha! Is there any place to rent snorkeling gear in the Kahekili Beach Park?
Written 26 June 2019
Not right at the park. But Snorkel Bob's and Boss Frogs have multiple locations all around there.

I’m assuming the public grills are charcoal? Do I need to purchase all items ahead of time? (Charcoal, lighter fluid, lighter)
Written 16 April 2019
Yes, they are charcoal grills. You will need to bring all supplies.

Looking at Google's directions to this beach park, it says "restricted access roads." What's the best way to get here via car?
Written 19 January 2018
No idea what Google is talking about. Follow the directions to the parking lot(go before noon for a space) take your beach chairs you rented from Snorkel Bobs and your cheap styrofoam cooler you bought from Longs Drugs full of Longboard Lagers and Sushi—you’re golden!

I should be clear, are there places near by to rent SUP where we need a car to transport them. I know there are lots of places on the island to rent SUP
Written 16 January 2017
I'm not sure on that.

I want to arrange for a wedding there, and will get a permit as needed. Who is in charge of managing this park, so I can contact them?
Written 29 July 2015
I would start by contacting Maui County Parks & Rec.
