Ulupalakua is home to MauiWine which offers one of the Islands' most enticing products - wines that carry the essence of Hawai'i, the spirit of Maui. MauiWine welcomes you to taste the fruit of the island in wines made from their 23 acre vineyard on the slopes of Haleakala, as well as the tropical wines made from the famed Maui Gold pineapples - all grown right here in Upcountry Maui. Visitors to MauiWine gather in the tasting room located in the King's Cottage, built in 1874 specifically for the celebrated visits of King Kalakaua, last reigning King of Hawai'i. Guests are invited to follow in the footsteps of Ali'i (royalty) and Paniolo (cowboys) on a guided tour of the historical grounds. A journey into Ulupalakua's illustrious past, a tour of the Makee estate, and a glimpse at the creation of Maui wines are all a part of the experience. Welcome to Ulupalakua... where the storied history blends with modern day agriculture, creating the perfect setting for the islands only winery and vineyard. Time Well Spent

There were tours available but we didn't go on any because we had our kids with us. We ducked into the store and bought a couple of bottles while they were playing in the gardens. Nice little stop that i wish we had spent more time at.

If you take the Hana drive this is a great place to stop before heading out. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We found ourselves being told more about Maui Wine than we ever imagined! And the samples are excellent!

We've been coming to Maui for 10+ years and every visit we make the trip to upcountry Maui to visit the winery and experience the new wines. Terrific parking, easy access, restrooms are super clean and the tour is fantastic. On this year's visit (Feb 2017) we signed up for a private tasting in the old jail house that is... More

Wine made from pineapples?? YUM!! In addition to being able to sample delicious Maui Splash Pineapple Wine, the Maui Wine property is an absolutely gorgeous place to spend an afternoon! It is full of fascinating history involving kings and captains from Maui's past. Don't miss the free tour and definitely buy tickets to the Jail Tasting!

Where else are you going to go to a pineapple winery? We were lucky enough to be able to do an experimental tasting in addition to the free tasting. Very friendly staff. Learned a lot about Maui history during the tasting, and picked up some cool local honeys and jams.

We came across Maui Wine after our ride around the southeast coast of Maui. It's a fun place to doing a complimentary wine tasting! Who doesn't love pineapple wine?

A long, beautiful scenic drive is required to reach Maui Wine if you don't mind a mountainous winding road with some sharp drop offs. The winery is a small boutique winery with surprisingly good wine. As it is high on the side of a volcano, they can grow most of their own grapes.

We have called here before but the visitor experience has had some work on it. We did not taste the wine but the tasting room has some excellent historical information boards which made this a good stop for us. Lovely spot and very customer focused.

Probably the best part of coming here is the scenic drive and views along the way. The winery is located about 25 miles south of Kahului on the Kula Hy. (Hy. 37) and you can't help but see some amazing views along the way. But, once you actually get here, there isn't a whole lot to do or see at... More
