Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Honestly, I thought this would be a food store. It had many beautiful , made in Hawaii
gifts. You could do all your shopping here! The gifts were also unique too. Delicious
chocolate candy bars as well as other food. You cannot miss it as it is next to the
Kula Lodge. You can park on the top or drive down to the front entrance. From top parking lot, paved path is on the right.

Nice little, compact grocery/convenience store and gift / souvenir shop, decent selection considering the small space. They had prepared sandwiches and salads, and banana bread, things that could be good for a picnic. I think they had hot soup, and coffee as well.
The sandwiches and salads were good, albeit nothing unusual or bold about it. No complaints. I'll say 4 stars.
This place was conveniently located along a journey up Haleakala to catch the sunset.
It has its own parking, right off the road.
There's a restroom as well. One would have to get the combination by asking someone within the shop.
TIP: the most obvious parking is off the road as mentioned above, but one would have to climb down a set of steps to get the the shop. Alternatively, there are parking spaces closer to the shop, at the same level as the parking lot for Kula Lodge, the restaurant immediately before it / next to it. It looks like the only way to drive down to those parking spaces would be via the Kula Lodge driveway access to its parking area.

We took a drive "Upcountry" and stopped in at the Kula Marketplace. The had a very wide range of gifts, food and crafts all made on Maui. It was well worth the trip - lots to see and sample. We stopped for a drink and a bite to eat from the fridges to recharge and came away with some cool local gifts (awesome coconut - peanut butter)

The grab and go veggie wrap with hummus was fresh and tasty. Interesting selection of sodas and juices. Good looking salads but I didn’t try one. Friendly ladies working the registers.

Definitely a good stop for any visitors upcountry, gift shop has a good collection of typical stuff and nice local arts & crafts. They also have a nice little market with snacks, frozen foods, etc.. As nearby local I really appreciate that there prices are often pretty reasonable, food, wine, beer etc... And their Chili is very good!

Kula Marketplace has a great selection of all sorts of typical Hawaii souvenirs, most of which are at reasonable prices. You can find cheaper other places, but not as high quality. Great stop on he way back from Haleakalā.

When we travel to the Upcountry on Maui, we always stop at this marketplace. It is a large store filled with a variety of gifts, food items and many products made on Maui or on the other islands of Hawaii. The staff is always friendly and helpful. You can also buy lunch or snacks while you are there. I highly recommend stopping here.
