Longing for the cat you left at home? Don't miss Lanai`s open-air sanctuary, a happy haven for spayed and neutered cats. Imagine a large playground in paradise, where cats romp and play in Hawaii's sunshine, and snooze under shady trees. Purring cats of all shapes and sizes eagerly await your visit. Our caregivers, who joyfully care for the cats, would love to meet you too. If you're interested in adopting a cat, we love matchmaking!

OK there is not a lot to do on Lanai... but you should really go to the Cat Sanctuary. they are doing a great working helping the wildlife on the island and saving the lives of many cats. If you go make sure you leave a donation. It is free but they can use all the help they can get

We visited the cat sanctuary on Monday, January 16, 2017. It was easy to get to - just hop off the ferry from Maui and look for the white "Rabaca" shuttle vans that meet all the incoming (and departing) ferries. Our driver, Isaac, got us to the sanctuary in about 25 minutes. We spent 2.5 hours at the sanctuary and... More

Staff is so kind friendly, give a great short opening tour and are passionate about saving these fun cats and keeping them from depleting the wild bird population. There were 513 cats on premises the day I visited. Bring a couple bags of treats from the general store. Staff know most of their individual names. They are all spayed or... More

We had a fantastic time with the cats (over 500 at the current time) and also learning about the sanctuary from the knowledgable volunteers. What a terrific service they provide not only for the cats but also for Lana'i. We took the ferry over from Maui, used Rabaca's for transportation and had lunch at the Four Seasons. I'd give it... My family visited the Cat Sanctuary on Christmas Day. My 7 year old son is obsessed with cats, so we thought it would be the best Christmas present. My son really liked it because he got to pet a lot of cats. He brought treats to give them. Myself and the 3 other adults were a bit disappointed. The area... More

Aloha, Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Keoni Vaughn and I am the Sanctuary's Executive Director. I apologize for the delayed response to your review. As you can probably imagine from your recent visit, our sanctuary is pretty unconventional with no office, electricity, telephone, or internet (other than a cellphone signal). I occasionally check on our TripAdvisor... More

This trip will probably cost you a minimum of $80/person for transportation. If you're staying in Maui, you'll want to take the Expeditions Maui-Lanai Ferry (google it) for $30 each way. Book online or at the ferry. It's a 45 minute ferry ride - not so windy on the way there but hella windy and wet on the way back.... More

The minute you drive up, you can see that someone has put their heart into this. We had the cutest girl great us immediately, sign us in and start with the full tour. The cats have so much space and different places to hangout out (or hide if they were not feeling social). If you can't take one home, at... More

If you are a cat lover this is a must. The sanctuary is very clean and the volunteers/staff are informative and friendly. If you are visiting Lanai take time to visit.

What a wonderful visit we had at the cat sanctuary! Over 500 cats living in harmony (ALMOST!) When we entered the gate, there must have been 30 cats instantly rubbing up againt us. We found out that not only is this a safe haven for ferrile cats but also conributes to preserving local bird life since the cats are no... More

This sanctuary is a MUST SEE for anyone going to Lanai or a nearby island. My mom and I came from Maui just to come here, and it was SO worth it. Our visit started with a tour from the lovely Ariel, who gave us so much information about the sanctuary, the local environment, the different areas and the cats... More
