My best friend and I decided to take a weekend trip to Lana'i to fulfil her goal of travelling to all of the accessible Hawaiian islands by the end of the semester. The Lana'i Cat Sanctuary was by far one of our favorite things we did there. We walked to the sanctuary from the airport (maybe a 15-20 min walk)... More

I'm not a cat person and initially i did not have the cat sanctuary on my visit list... how wrong i was. Please go visit and support the good folks that make this sanctuary possible. Take a seat and in no time the friendly lovely cats will come over and purr their hearts out. The sanctuary was icing on the... More

We were so fortunate to make a visit to the Lanai Cat Sanctuary on our very first trip to Lanai. It is a true oasis of love and care for over 500 feline friends, and many of those sweet and happy four-legged friends came running to meet us when we entered the large and well-cared for space that is their... Housing 500 cats, this place is truly a dream for any cat lover (or even a bird lover since the place exists to protect birds from cats!). The facilities for the cats are lovingly arranged and offer cats of all personalities safe, cozy spots to hang out. I mean, where else can you combine curling up in a basket while... More

We took the ferry from Lahaina to Lanai, then took a shuttle to the sanctuary. Well worth the trip! The young lady who greeted us and showed us around was wonderful. We even had a cat welcoming committee at the gate. We were given a container of treats and were immediately surrounded by cats. The cats looked good. They receive... More

My girlfriend and I were at the tail end of a 10 day stay in Maui when we heard about the cat sanctuary on Lanai. Leaving the Sunday and hearing about it Friday afternoon we made the executive decision to drop our Saturday plans and take the ferry across to Lanai. I will sum up each aspect with a paragraph:... I spent four unforgettable hours at the cat sanctuary. It was one of the best days of my life. More than 500 cats live at the sanctuary - some are surrendered pets, some are strays/ferals - and they have different comfort levels around people. Many of the cats are extremely friendly and hop into your lap immediately, while others are... More

Be sure to go early, as it closes at 3pm (no electricity). Cat lovers (my husband) will want at least an hour to tour the area and pet every cat that wants your attention. The staff is super friendly; Ariel showed us around and impressed us by knowing the names of almost EVERY CAT! It’s a very thoughtful space, built... More
