A bit challenging but well worth the effort. There are two waterfalls when you get to the end. Many people miss one or the other. One is close to the edge of the canyon wall and the other one is about one hundred yards back....More

This hike is quite frightening at the end when hiking beside an open edge alongside the canyon, especially when it is easy to lose footing on the slippery red rock. Fairly easy hike and is downhill for the 1st mile but isn't as bad as...More

The trail is varied and it provides spectacular views at the lookout. Well worth the time. If I could change one thing I would recommend that the trail be better marked. Also, instead of just signs with names and arrows that they at least once...More

We (4 folks in our early 50s, in good shape) hiked this path in early July. It is not a long hike but it is quite steep in places and when we hiked, there had not been much rain and the earth was loose and...More

This is definitely the first hike that anybody should do in the canyon. It gives your wonderful perspective of a beautiful falls. Challenging but not too challenging easily doable for the average hiker.

We hiked the Canyon trail and it's a pretty difficult trail with lots of rocks, roots, to climb over with several inclines / declines along the way, but the reward at the end is amazing! We did a helicopter tour the day before so we...More

It's not a particularly strenuous one, but it's a lot of fun. We walked to the waterfall, which was slightly disappointing and lacked any kind of wow factor, it served nicely as a destination/turning point to the hike though. Pay attention to the steep slope...More

This is one of the shorter walks in the state park. It has incredible views of the canyon and isn't too taxing. If you have a four wheel drive you can drive down the dirt road and cut out a lot of the walk (we...More

Just to add to Sylvie's response. she is correct, there are technically two starting points to the Canyon Trail. I have done both and the one that starts at Pu‘u Hinahina Lookout is the better more interesting path. The... More

Maybe some initial part. I would not be comfortable taking a 6-7 year old on this trek as some parts are tricky, although there are kids that age that we saw on the trail.

HI, well my spouse and I did this trail after it had been raining for most of the month, so it was muddy as I say in my recent review. On the back issues, I have a bad back, but it is never bothered by hiking, just sitting... More
