We went there but the clouds were too thick. The roads are marked very well. Need to go early in the morning.

We saw the Grand Canyon in the fall of 2016, so Waimea wasn't as impressive looking...but it still is worth the trip...the drive is a bit of a winding road upwards...but you're rewarded with a couple of good lookouts...

Waimea Canyon is in the town of Waimea on the island of Kauai. Better know as the Grand Canyon of the South Pacific. The canyon was formed by a volcano collapsing and causing a crater. The canyon is grogeous mix of colours mostly green. Try not to go too early in the morning as there can be a lot of... More

Located on the island of Kauai, the canyon is a simple but winding drive up the mountain. The colors rival some of the photos I had seen of the Grand Canyon. Full of oranges, reds and greens the canyon is a wonderful option as you visit Kauai. I visited this canyon several years ago but there is no option to... More

Waimea Canyon is a must do on Kauai. Excellent views from many look out spots that you can park the car and walk 100 ft or so to. Lots of great photo opportunities, with some really great scenery. Absolutely, don't miss this.

From a look out point one can look down into the gorge. We were there late afternoon and the colours were quite amazing. The gorge is 10 miles long, one mile wide and 3,000 feet deep and well worth a visit even though it is a long journey to reach the lookout point. It is not like the Grand Canyon... More

This second trip to the Canyon didn't disappoint. Even the drive to the Canyon is beautiful. Once there, to stop and get out is breath-taking. Well worth the drive.

The drive is definitely uphill on a windy road but a good tour...the stops are well marked and the views are beautiful...go on a clear day....and take a jacket with as it gets cooler towards the top...we packed a lunch and had it at koke lodge ...there are picnic tables there and then we ordered coconut pie and coffee.....was very...
