We stayed three weeks on the Big Island and two weeks on Kauai. We were alarmed to witness, many times, power boats coming too close to whales and following them, sea turtles harrassed off beaches where they had come to rest (specifically Poipu Beach Park),...More

Has it all. Barbecue grills for public use, fishing, rocks, beach. Little coves, so even though it was very busy, felt private at the same time. Spotted a monk seal right by the rocks, and watched sea turtles for a couple of hours in the...More

Poipu Beach is a very nice beach to take your family to. It's lagoon is surrounded by a jetty keeping the water calm. The snorkeling is good and you never know when a turtle will show up. With two lifeguard stands it is very safe.

Poipu is beautiful. It’s a very calm protected beach where everyone can get in the water. Snorkeling is good too. It can get a little crowded at times compared to other beaches in Hawaii. Worth the visit.

Great beach with protected sandy area for toddlers, plus good snorkelling. Frequently turtles or seals resting on the beach too!

Poipu Beach is a very nice, white sand beach where you can set up your sand chair and relax the hours away. Or you can hop on your boogie board or surf board or grab a sandwich at the local deli across the street or...More

I stayed in a condo close to this beach so I had the chance to take a walk during the sunrise. It was very tranquil with maybe one or two other people and about 5 or 6 sea turtles. It is also nice to visit...More

This is one of the areas there is a lifeguard. The beach area is both sand or grass. There are several covered areas to picnic or just get out of the sun. The grassy area is full of tiny pine cones from the trees, so...More

I thought this beach was just okay. There we so many people there it was hard to find a spot. We ended up in a section that was pretty rocky on the beach floor. I'd go someplace else.

Shallow and clear beach with lots of fish and fish species. Swam monk seals who had just been sleeping on beach and then entered the water. Saw a moray eel resident who lives on one the shelves about 60 feet out. Not really a swimming...More
