We did the hike which begins at Shipwreck Beach and continues for several miles along the coastline. The terrain can be a bit uneven due to lava rocks and exposed roots so good, comfortable shoes are a must. The hike passes ancient sacred spots of...More

Beautiful peaceful walk, few people as compared to North area. Would recommend comfortable shoes for all terrains as the landscape changes quickly (sand, rock, grass)

For the full hike, park at Shipwreck beach and hike along the coast. You can also park CJM Country stables and see the cave first. The Makaiwahi Cave trail is marked well. It was an amazing hike with gorgeous views!

Great hike just off of Shipwreck, can be hot. The different cliff views and scenery are interesting. If willing, there are areas to hike down the cliffs to the ocean - good fun for the sure footed!

At first for some reasons I was unsure about this hike, because it is flat ans seems a bit boring when I was comparing with Kalaulau trail or Nualolo... but I was in the area and had half a day to kill so I tried...More

The lithified cliffs can be seen on the longer hike of Maha'ulepu beaches. From the sandy beginning at Shripweck beach to the end at Ha'ula beach, you will see or walk on different part of these cliffs which are destructed little by little by the...More

This hike is an unmarked wander from the end of the beach along rocky cliffs above the ocean. You can climb rocks, go down to the beach and explore. We saw humpbacks, seals and sea turtles. The trail follows the coast along the beautiful Poipu...More

We stumbled upon this hiking trail because we were staying at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa next door to the trailhead. We are so glad we found it! We hiked for about 2 miles and saw many beautiful vistas while getting great exercise....More

Well worth the drive to the starting point for the trail. You walk through many zones, from sandy beach, to bay, to rough cliffs to desert. Take plenty of water. It was probably the hottest spot of our entire three weeks on the island. Beautiful...More

This is a lovely hike on which you can go for 1-2 miles before turning around. Stunning views of the water from high up so you can see currents, sea turtles, beautiful white capped waves. Also fun to look at the plant life and the...More

Yes, absolutely. It is more an area to explore than a linear path. You could go as long or short as they are up for but there are rocks to climb, and inlets with sleeping seals. Like everything with younger kids, it’s not... More
