Built in the 1930's, Kilohana Plantation is a historic landmark and premier visitor attraction offering visitors and locals a glimpse into Kauai's past combined with assorted island-style activities, dining and shopping. Ride on our Kauai Plantation Railway, winding its way through the plantation's working farms and orchards. Learn about Kauai's history, enjoy the beautiful views and stop to feed the pigs! Take the afternoon to stroll the grounds and explore the 16,000 sq. foot plantation home. Stop in at Koloa Rum Co. for a rum tasting or for a full "Rum & Dining Experience." Visit the various artisan shops located around the grounds and both upstairs and downstairs in the home. Established in 1986, Gaylord's restaurant is a Kauai tradition. Set in the courtyard of the estate, it offers fresh, island-inspired food and beverages for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Make lunch a part of your fun afternoon on the estate or make reservations for a romantic dinner. Memorable by day, unforgettable by night. Or check out Happy Hour in the new Mahiko Lounge. Luau Kalamaku is Kauai's only theatrical luau telling the story of the original Tahitian voyage to the Hawaiian islands. An interactive experience, it offers all the exciting luau features including an imu ceremony, torch lighting, Polynesian knife dance and of course traditional music & hula. Choose one or all of the features that Kilohana Plantation has to offer. Open daily, you'll love the chance to see a piece of Kauai's history while experiencing the best of the island today!

We liked the shops - worth a brief visit. On the grounds, there is a place you can get a massage which looked reasonably priced.

Let me preface that I've attended numerous Luaus on other islands (Oahu/Maui). This was by far the worst experience out of all the others I've attended. Food was good, you basically line-up and scoop the food on your plate. I really liked the pork and...More

The estate is a free tour, it has several shops that are open to the general public. There are approximately twelve shops that are only open when the Luau show is scheduled. These shops are only to people attending the Luau. It has a great...More

The plantation is interesting but doesn't hold enough to make a long stay unless you eat there as well. The train ride is good for kids, but a bit boring for adults. The luau is great but is separate from the tour and the train....More

For a splurge, this was worth the high price. $52 each for Brunch. The quality, variety and abundance of food was amazing. For $10 more you could have unlimited champagne but wish we had opted instead to spend the $30 on a bottle of wine....More

Great house to see what wealthy plantation owners lived in when sugar cane was king. Interesting grounds with a pottery shop, but other shops are more of the touristy nature.

This employee [that I cannot describe so as not to offend the sensitivities of TripAdvisor] working there at the gift shop snapped at a guy for asking directions. He was disabled and she looked at his implement of disability with a scowl, which suggested that...More

We are coming on a Sunday from a. Princess cruise. Besides the train ride, is there enough to keep us busy for several hours afterwards? How far away from the cruise port are you? Thank you.

Local gin tasting is a specialty. Takes about half hour
Do you host other events there such as weddings and receptions? If so, there a specific person I can contact to request information on it?

You can write an email to them, they answer quickly. The plantation is large and I feel confident that they rent it out for special occasions especially in the winter when they are only open a few days a week.

The Luau and owner's dinner is the best show a great dinner that we had in Kauaii. The train ride would be good for children. You can walk around the site. Yes the dinner and Luau are perfect for people of all ages.
